Anniversary weekend recap!

I didn’t disappear!  Mike and I just took our weekend celebration seriously – I don’t think we stopped for a moment, unless it was to sleep! :)

That being said – I’ll give you the best “quick recap” I can!  Friday – we each took a half day and we started the celebration at our house, with a bottle of champagne given to us on our wedding – to be saved for our 1st anniversary.  Isn’t this the coolest looking bottle you have ever seen?

Here’s Mike pouring our celebratory glasses (notice they are huge wine goblet and not champagne glasses – I don’t know where our glasses from our wedding went!) ;)

We decided to head to lunch a little after 1 to avoid any “crowds”.  We went to Melt – which is known for their amazing “grilled cheese” based sandwiches (get where the name came from?) – and our timing worked out well, we didn’t need to wait for a table.  I ordered the Electric Blueberry Lemonade to start – it was fresh lemonade, fresh mint, stoli blueberry – and I think that’s it.  It was DELICIOUSLY AMAZING – almost like candy, but with that hint of tartness that made it phenomenal.  Mike ordered a Pear Cider – IT WAS CLEAR! I was so amazed by that when it was brought to the table, it’s all I talked about for the next 10 minutes!

For lunch – I ordered the Winter Chicken Grilled Cheese – grilled chicken, honey chipotle bbq sauce, and pepperjack cheese – OUT OF THIS WORLD!

Next – I ordered a Pear Cosmopolitan, which was made like a normal cosmo, but with the addition of that Pear Cider that Mike had – this was another hit!

Then we headed off to bowling, which was fun, because again, we timed everything correctly, so we were basically the only ones in the bowling alley.

After that, we made a few more stops, one of which was at a bar we love, but live far away from now.  I got the Seatini – pineapple juice, blue curaco, and vodka – YUM! :)

Me enjoying my drink: :P

Saturday, we woke up and I made breakfast for us.  Basically – some eggs with a whole bunch of veggies.   Here’s mine – 3 egg whites, 1 full egg, peppers, jalapenos, and spinach – it PERFECTLY hit the spot after a night out on the town.

We then took Lando for a walk down in the valley, and took her to the dog park for the very first time.  I didn’t have my camera, but she really wasn’t having it.  She hid in the corner, and didn’t play with any other dogs.  I guess we’ll have it give it a try another day! :)

For a late lunch/early dinner, we went to Salmon Dave’s, which is one of my favorite “special occassion” restaurants.  We started off with calamari – which was served with this spicy asian bbq sauce instead of marinara – it was so good – I seriously considered licking the plate! :P

We also ordered a bottle of wine for our special occasion – the Matua Savingnon Blanc – it was nice and crisp, and tasted way better that the cheap-o bottles of Sav Blanc I usually buy!

I can honestly say, the highlight of my weekend (from a food standpoint OF COURSE) – was my meal here.  I ordered the Spicy Seafood Lo Mein Bowl.  It had shrimp, scallops, and salmon, served with tons of fresh veggies, over lo mein with spicy szechuan sauce.  I don’t think I’ve had a meal that I loved this much in a LONG time!

And that’s about it!  We had some friends over last night to watch the Buckeyes (they lost – frown), and then today we just laid around and enjoyed our day off together!

Hope you had a great weekend as well! :D

That is the SAME champagne that the hubby and I have on our anniversary! We went to Spain on our honeymoon, and we love our cava, but that particular one is the best that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg!
