First Trip to Whole Foods! With VeggieGirl!

Hey everyone!   That’s right!  That’s my big news!  I FINALLY, FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, got to go to Whole Foods today! And to make it even better – Liz from Veggie Girl was nice enough to offer to meet me there and walk me through the store!  First trip to Whole Foods, and meeting a fellow blogger – I can’t think of a better Sunday! :D

Here’ Liz and I – apparently the people at Whole Foods don’t like cameras – so we had to make it fast.  We both had our cameras – and I was obviously looking at the wrong one!  :P

When we first got there – we took a minute to chat, and Liz surprised me with a sample of her homemade banana bread! It took all my will power not to break into it right then! :D

Once we got started shopping – I was AMAZED!   Whole Foods has absolutely everything you could possibly imagine.  They have a bunch of pre-prepped veggies and fruits if you are in a rush, every vegetable imaginable (in regular and organic), healthy beauty products, all sorts of crazy delicious salsas and dips, and more!  They have a restaurant with a very cool menu AND a huge salad bar, and hot food bar.  Honestly – any food you could hope they would have on the buffet – they have!  From Southern BBQ to quinoa to Sweet & Sour Tofu – it’s insane!   Honestly – it was overwhelming!  There were so many neat things that I wanted to try – but I also just wanted to take it all in!  I only ended up spending about $30 bucks – but next time – I’m POSITIVE I could do a lot more damage!

Here’s what I got:

  • vanilla hemp milk (super exctied to try this!)
  • organic peanut butter
  • apple cinnamon z-bar
  • blueberry z-bar
  • 3 key lime larabars  (YAY!)
  • luna tea cake (mint chocolate)
  • dried pineapple
  • organic chick peas
  • fage with cherries
  • cherry vanilla pop
  • sweet potatoes
  • honeykrisp apples (these things smell amazing – I can’t wait to try them)
  • tandoor chef chick pea dinner
  • tempeh

All in all – not to bad right?  A lot of the items on my list are things I have never tried before – I love with that happens!   That means I have a ton of new things to experiment with this week!

Also – a quick running update.  It’s almost like I needed to dare myself, or push myself to just get back on the treadmill and do 5 miles.  After I posted yesterday – I went straight to the gym – and ran 5 miles!  It felt really good – although it was definitely harder than before, just because I’m so far out of my groove.  It ended up taking me 1 hour, 1 minute, and 18 seconds.  Which – let’s face it – isn’t great time.  It’s slower than a 12 minute mile.  But you know what – the fact that I did 5 is what matters!  Now that I’ve started again – I hope to get it back down to around 55 (58 is the best I’ve done so far).

That’s all for now – hope you guys had a great weekend! :)

So in our Whole Foods (which I friggin love, but would go broke at if I went as often as I’d like) there is a section of refrigerated prepared foods right by the hot foods area where they have like, dips / spreads / sandwiches. So you HAVE to try the caramelized onion hummus. It is like, the most delicious thing ever. Seriously.
