The influence of others

Do you let other peoples attitude – positive or negative – affect you?

I’d like to say I don’t – I just go on my merry little way all the time…

…but I do let others affect me.  What makes me bring this up?  Well this morning, as I was struggling to get through the entrance door at work (where you need a keycard to enter) – I was surrounding by nice, kind, friendly, “morning people” – we all exchanged smiles and held the door for each other.  It’s little stuff like that – where I just walk away smiling – thinking “Gosh, some people are just so nice!“.  One the opposite side of the coin – you have those people who will slam the door in your face, or turn around and see you are coming and run so they don’t have to hold the door – and that irks me – so then I’m crabby (well – I try not to be…but sometimes it happens).

Do any of you do that sort of thing?  Do you let a positive or negative event in the morning affect your whole day?

On a different note – Abbie over at Foods that Fit is putting together an awesome e-cookbook – CHECK IT OUT!

Snacks yesterday included – MORE EDAMAME!picture-0163and my first Keribar – this was sent to me from Matt in my Bloggers Valentine’s Package!picture-0175Strawberry Chocolate Chip! Check out the inside!picture-0194The bar itself was pretty good – reminded me a lot of the Kardea bars, because they had the same shiny, wet look to them.  It did a nice job of tiding me over between work, my workout, and the time I finally ate dinner!

I went on a 4.27 mile walk with Kristin and Lando – so by the time I finally got home to eat – it was close to 8!  I wanted something SUPER quick and SUPER easy…so I went with grilled cheese with chicken.  Boring picture:picture-0212Better picture:picture-0271and good ole spaghettios to “wash” it all down!  I threw in some chickpeas for some extra protein!picture-0232Tonight we have plans so I woke up early and went to the gym for my first run of the week 2 mile run!

The run was actually pretty good – faster than normal for a “morning” run.  At this point – my mind is focused on the 8 miles I’ll be doing this Saturday – again – setting the bar a mile higher for the farthest I’ve ever run!   Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I felt like a cold breakfast – so I polished off the rest of my PB Puffins, and made some coffee to take to work!picture-0293Any other BGSU alumni out there? WOOT WOOT!

Lunch today was another salad – but I got REALLY CRAZY with things and had A PEAR!picture-0333I honestly – can’t remember the last time I ate a pear.  The last time that comes to mind – I swear to god I was like 6!  This one was HUGE but it tasted SO GOOD!

Okay kids – off to survive the rest of my Thursday, and then a family dinner, and my cousins play!   TGIAF!

It’s true what they say: a smile can change somebody’s day. I try to stay positive and smile throughout the day. I try not to let negative people bring me down but it happens. Especially when they take my parking spot that I’ve been waiting for (cough, cough…happened today!)

Thanks so much for the mention of the cookbook! The Keribar looks really good, I love chocolate and strawberries together, I bet I would love this bar!

I hate when people run from having to hold the door! Like its hard…really now! Our store was out of puffins this week! I have to get me some this weekend! They look so delicious!

Yes!! I do let little things bother me, but only for a while in the morning. :)

OH! And i actually really really like the “boring” picture of your sandwich. I like things wholesome! So thanks for sharing that even though you might have thought it was a bore!

Ugh when people don’t hold the door I secretly curse at them in my head! Seriously, it’s not that hard! Just wait like two freakin’ seconds!! Okay enough of my rant ;)

That bar looks pretty good and I love your spaghetti o’s/grilled sam/ketchup combo!!

yes, and it’s such bad news sometimes! i think i’m a sponge for other people’s feelings/attitudes. i totally take them on myself — it makes the whole social worker thing quite a challenge!

yumm, grilled cheese … it’s the simple things :-)

I let people affect me way too much… but I’m working on it!!! Great eats today, and Im loving the looks of that bar!

Some days the attitudes of others definitely influences me!

I haven’t had spaghettio’s in years!

I’m usually really good at letting things go, but sometimes I’ll let things get to me more than they should.

Oh I know what you mean! It feels so nice when someone actually waits at the door for you and holds it for you. That totally makes my day for me. LOL

I try not to let negativity affect me, instead letting positivity take over :-)

PB PUFFINS!!!!!!!

YAY tgif!!!

I do that all the time! If someone lets a door shut in my face, I usually exclaim loudly, “No that’s okay. I can get this myself, thanks!” Yeah, I can be a butthead sometimes. ;)

Love the grilled sammie and spaghetti Os! Sometimes simple is the best way to go. :D

I think I will have a grilled cheese for lunch today:)

OMG, now I have a jones for spaghettios!! I used to make it with toasted Wonder bread and butter and would put a spoonful of spaghettios on each bit of bread.

Good eats!!
