Quaker got it right!

In honor of the contest (WHICH ENDS AT 6PM EST TONIGHT – GET YOUR ENTRIES IN!!!) – I thought I would taste test some of the fabulous granola bars Quaker sent me!

A few months ago, I got to try out the Quaker True Delights – which were fabulous in my book, but the ingredient list was a little shaky.  That didn’t deter me, but I know for plenty of you out there, that’s important!

Since this product was Simple Harvest – I had high hopes for the ingredient list, and I have to admit – QUAKER DIDN’T LET ME DOWN!picture-0155Check it out:

Ingredients: Whole grain rolled oats, brown rice syrup, crisp rice (rice, sugar, salt, malted barley flour), sugar, dried sweeteend cranberry pieces (sugar, crandberries), semisweet chocolate chunks (sugar, chocolate liquor, cocoa butter, soy lecithin, salt, vanilla), almonds, peanuts, honesy, sunflower oil, inulin, whole graind rolled barley, whole grain rolled wheat, molasses, soybean oil, water, glycerin, salt, vanilla, soy lecithin.picture-0166The taste?   Pretty darn good!

They were nice and crunchy, yet chewy at the same time – with just the right amount of sweet!   A DEFINITE thumbs up in my book, and something I would definitely buy on a regular basis!

Don’t forget!  Contest ends tonight at 6pm EST!!! I’ll post the winner later tonight or first thing in the AM!!!

I love my job!

Happy Saturday lovelies!

Well I’ve finally caught up on work, sleep, exercise, and chores since my week full of meetings!

I know I did a lot of complaining about how busy my week was – but you know what?  I seriously have a fantastic job!  I work with the most amazing, talented (AND FUN!) people; for a company with a phenomenal culture, that treats us well!  What more could I ask for?!?!

Here’s the whole group, aren’t we cute?!picture-0154For our last day of meetings – I had a napoli panini for lunch – it was fresh mozzarella, fresh basil, roma tomatoes, and balsamic garlic – it was nice to have veggies back on my plate!picture-0263Dinner Thursday night was half of a microwaved potato with some Hormel Vegetarian chili and banana peppers – this totally hit the spot!  picture-0312Friday morning – my fabulous spicy oats:picture-0341All I wanted to eat for the rest of the day was veggies since they were so absent earlier this week – so I made myself a salad (sans lettuce):picture-0353There was some broccoli, red onion, carrots, cucumbers, chick peas, and banana peppers – PERFECTION!picture-0373Snack – finally got some fruit back in my life too – orange and a kiwi (skin on!  try it!):picture-0381Dinner last night – tofu!picture-0066I was totally craving this all week, I’m not sure why.  I was too lazy to make GC’s rub, so I just doused these pieces with some soy sauce, rice vinegar, and hot sauce.  Turned out a little drier than usual, which I liked!

God knows I didn’t need any booze last night – so I went with a Pom spritzer instead.picture-0074picture-0087After that – time for bed!  Talk about lame for a Friday night!

This morning I woke up ready, but apprehensive, about my long run.  With the week I had – I did not do ANY of my other runs.  I decided – spicy oats was my best plan of attack to making this 8 miles pleasant.picture-0136I also went with 2 full glasses of coffee (as opposed to one) in order to help get fueled up.picture-0174I also got out theses puppies to try during my run for the first time:picture-0196Clif Shot Blox!  Margarita flavor – I packed up 3 for the run!

All said at done, the run wasn’t too terrible.  I did the first 4 miles in 42:28 – the second 4 considerably slower – but if you take into account I didn’t run AT ALL the rest of the week – I’m pretty happy.  I popped these around mile 4.5 – and I think they really helped!picture-0202I know some of you have tried the margarita flavor and hated it – but I have to admit – I was a fan!  They were chewy and salty and sweet at the same time!

After my 8 miles – I felt great, so I decided Landrew needed a 3 mile walk – she was extremely grateful!  Then we ran over to my parents to hang for a little while…look where she likes to sit in the car:picture-0264I know she shouldn’t be sitting there, but it’s actually the only time she behave herself in the car.  If she isn’t wedged behind me, then she is getting into something.  As you can see – she’s totally back to normal!

I’m off to enjoy the rest of my Saturday – hope yours is going well!

Don’t forget to sign up for my contest!!!!
