She being me, of course!
I FINALLY feel human again, and I’m very happy about it! Thank you for all the birthday and “feel better” wishes! I didn’t eat a whole lot on Thursday or Friday – and didn’t take a picture of what I did manage to stomach – so I’ve got a full birthday recap, and what I ate yesterday to share with you!
On Wednesday, I took a half day so I could go get a manicure and haircut for my birthday. Well, the haircut got canceled….

…but my manicure sure was pretty! I got “Bagota Blackberry“!
I came home (bummed about my hair appointment) – only to be surprised by a package, which makes ANY day better!
I tore right into it to find:

How pretty is that packaging?!?!?! (ALL OF MY FAVORITE BARS!)

AND these homemade cookies!

I opened the card to find this was from my wonderful friend Meghan, whose from Cleveland, but currently living in Virginia/DC finishing her last year of law school at Georgetown. I miss her all the time, and she is so thoughtful and amazing – THANK YOU MEGHAN! YOU ARE THE BEST!
I still hadn’t eaten lunch by 2 – so I made some roasted broccoli, my newest obsession!

I ate almost everything you see there! MMMM, MMM!
For dinner we went over to my parents house – I wanted Melt - which you guys have seen my talk about before on the blog – but the wait when you go at typical meals times is INSANE – so we got it to go!
I went with the Smokey Russian this time:

Turkey, Swiss Cheese, and Napa Valley Kraut!

It was AMAZING, AS USUAL! I could only manage to eat half – I think the rest I’m going to chow down on today!
My mom got some Smart Ones Desserts (isn’t she thoughtful?!?!!) to sing Happy Birthday to me – but by that point – I was feeling really pretty rotten – so I didn’t eat any of my own “cake”
I did get a fantastic-ally generous gift from my parents! A wonderful card and check – and then my new running shoes (which you saw me kissin’ earlier this week).
They are actually the same exact pair I have right now. I love them so much – and they work so well for me – I didn’t want to mess with a good thing and try to find new shoes! Here’s the old vs. new!

I thought they old ones would look way worse, but I guess since I do all my winter training inside (because of the lovely climate here in Cleveland, Ohio) they weren’t as dirty as I thought!
Thanks Mom and Dad! You got me EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED! :mgreen:
Saturday – I was supposed to run 9 miles, but having been so sick, I knew that wasn’t going to happen.
I woke up and made my first batch of Steel Cut oats EVER!

and decided “Spicy” was the only way to eat them!

I’m a big fan of these! They have more crunch and flavor than regular oats! Love it! Then - Lando and I went on an 8.3 mile walk with Kristin (hey – if I couldn’t get my long run in, I was still going to do some workin’ out!) Afterward, Lander and I were both tuckered out, so I gave her a bath (she was a mess!) and I got a shower myself – and then we napped the rest of the afternoon!

She loves the warm weather and our new front door – she can keep watch over the whole neighborhood!
Last night – my Uncle had everyone over for a “Curb your Enthusiasm” party – translation – my fam just hanging out, eating and drinking, and watching some TV!
My aunt made her famous chicken salad:

I had two of these puppies – they were GOOOOOD! Especially the ones with the grapes!
My mom made her Reuben dip – which I’m obsessed with. I can’t be sat in front of this – because I WILL eat the whole thing!

I did a good job last night though – only about 20 bites!
I also had a small pour of Merlot – it looked so good, but I still wasn’t feelin’ so hot, so I kept my portion small.

Then it was time for bed – to lose an hour of sleep!
I woke up feeling even better (still not 100%) – so hopefully by next week I’ll be back to normal.
Hope you all had a fabulous weekend – and enjoy what’s left of it!

so glad to see you’re on the mend!! and an 8.3 mile walk?? phew, that must have taken HOURS — way to get the mileage in even though you were feeling yucky. sounds like you still managed to have a great weekend with lots of family time. yay for getting exactly what you want/need!
(thanks for the encouragement on my run the other day, too. glad i could pound the pavement for both of us!)
