Meet my friend, Flat Stanley. He’s quite the world traveler.
Handsome fellow, eh? I was lucky enough to spend my whole evening Friday night with him. He’s traveling anywhere and everywhere he can, and ending in a grade school classroom. Apparently this won’t be news to all you moms out there, but I hadn’t heard of Flat Stanley – so I was very excited to get to meet him!
If you are wondering where our Friday adventures took Flat Stanley – I’ll tell you!
My friend Stephanie came up to visit Friday night, and sleep over (yay! SLUMBER PARTY!) – and she had never been to Wine Bar, but had heard me talk about it and seen it on the blog – so that’s where we went! Mike came with us, so we started with a bottle of Sauv Blanc when we got there:
And decided we would order three appetizers and split them, as opposed to meals!
The calamari (if this looks familiar – this is exactly what I got last time!)
Avocado Brie Bruschetta - I can not even begin to tell you how fabulous this is. My friend Jen is on a mission to recreate this so we can all have the recipe!
Last but not least, a basket of “Wino Fries“:
The food and wine was amazing (and I think Steph really liked it!), but it was getting crowded – and there were large groups of VERY DRUNK people, so we decided to take our party closer to home!
First place that came to mind – McGinty’s – and STRONGBOWS!
Except “Strongbows” turned into Strongbows and shots, and things went downhill from there!
Stephanie, Me, Mike:
Trouble:
We had a great time – and got to use our $20 gift certificate we got the weekend of my 10 mile race, so the bar tab wasn’t too shabby!
Later on in the evening, Flat Stanley told me he wanted to drink. I explained to him this was bad for several reasons. 1 – I’m not positive, but I believe Flat Stanley to be under age. Since he could not produce proper identification, he wasn’t getting any drinks! 2 – He’s flat. If I remember all my science classes correctly – paper & liquid mixing together wouldn’t make for the brigthest future for Flat Stanley.
After my in depth argument with a piece of paper – we decided to call it a night!
Hope you are having a great weekend!

As a third grade teacher, who does the Flat Stanley project, I have officially added you to my DO NOT SEND list. I will also make sure my directions say, if you take Flat Stanley to bars or other adult establishments please do not photograph him, as he is 8 years old.
Just kidding! Seriously we need to get drinks soon! Any C-bus trips coming up?!

Okay I was absolutely confused b/c a few weeks ago and lady at my church had this and I just thought it was one of her kids being creative and her just being a loving mom for going everywhere (like bikerides, beach, etc.) and taking this little doll. haha
I get it now. =)
