Last Long Run

Yesterday was my last long run before the half marathon.  That’s super exciting (YAY!  No more long runs) and super terrifying (AHH!  The half is less than 6 days away) all at the same time!

Lando woke up earlier than usual, which actually worked out to my advantage.  I got a jump start to my day!   My favorite “pre-long-run” breakfast/fuel:

Spicy oats! Don’t they look so pretty when I make them at home?

For fuel along the run, I tried out these Gu Chomps (feel free to laugh, I think the name is hysterical!) for the first time:

Honestly – they were so, so.  They were really sticky, and after 4 pieces (the recommended amount) – I felt like I wanted to barf.   Especially since I love my Clif Shot Blox, I think I’ll stick to what I know, and not buy these again!

The run went pretty well.  I felt pretty tired this week (compared to last week’s awesome 9 miles) – but I ended up running 10.25 miles in 1:55:00 – SMOKING my 10 mile race time! My 10 mile race time was 1:58:03 – so I took 3 minutes off my time, and ran a quarter of a mile further!  I was a happy girl!

When I got in the door, I was in definite need of something – so I slammed one of these from the fridge – “French Vanilla” flavor:

I was actually very pleasantly surprised. This shake had a fantastic taste, and did a nice job of getting sugar/protein/carbs back in my system!

For lunch, I reheated pizza I made late Saturday (and was too lazy to photograph at the time) – homemade TJ’s whole wheat pizza dough, banana peppers, and chick peas!

After showering, and catching up on blogging/blog reading – it was time to head over to my Grandma’s for dinner!  It was requested that I bring my magical cupcakes, and since they are so quick and easy, I was happy to oblige!

I made 24 (since 12 last time went in the blink of an eye!) – 12 “Devil’s Food”, 12 Yellow.

For dinner, the “guys” cooked Filet Mignon for the “moms”, and there were tons of veggies and fruit to go around.  I really wasn’t feeling a steak (I’ve been finding more and more that meat upsets my stomach) – so I stuck with a delicious, colorful plate of fruits and veggies!

Seriously – this was awesome. The fruit salad was the best I’ve had in years.  Blackberries, cantaloupe, honeydew, pineapple, strawberries - YUM! The veggie salad had yummy mozzarella and tomatoes, and I also had some fresh cooked green beans, corn, and a tiny scoop of mashed potatoes!  Heaven on a plate!

I crashed early last night, since we’d been  going non-stop all weekend – it felt nice to finally get a full night sleep!

I have some exciting news to share with you (hence why my Saturday whereabouts and eats are MIA) – but I need to double check with 2 people and make sure they are okay with me posting on it!  Also – I’m working on my first ever video post (all about Aldi) – so STAY TUNED for some good stuff, coming soon, to Green Dog Wine!
