Hi internet. Allison is off having fun in the sun for the weekend and so I, the devoted husband, have been given the task of posting a Saturday update. Duck and cover, here it comes.
First things first: I wish my name was Doug. Or Dean. Then the post title could have been something clever, like “Green Doug Wine” or “Dean Dog Wine.” Unfortunately my parents didn’t have the foresight to name me one of these things, so Mike’s Guest Post was the best I could come up with.
Second things second: Allison suggested that perhaps I would like to make this post about the things I eat, but I think I can sum up my daily diet with a single picture (taken with my Dream Camera):

Sigh. If only...
With my update out of the way, I’ll now give you a recap of Allison’s Friday eats in the most Allisonesque fashion I can.
(Note (seriously, please note): this is all in good fun, I love my wife dearly and am extremely proud of her and this blog.)
Here we go:
Happy Saturday, lovelies!
I ran a long 7 miles this morning and boy are my arms tired [Mike: this part is true (well, except for the arms part). She's well on her way to kicking the marathon's @$$].
Here’s a quick rundown of yesterday, then it’s off to Catawba–WOOT WOOT!
I started out the day with a mug of this stuff:

I think this is the one I call a Ruby Slipper, but there’s very little ruby visible here. So I guess it was just a Slipper–MMMMMMMMMM!
Next, for no reason at all, LANDY BEAN!!!

Lunch was salad. Here’s a picture of it:

Also, some other junk:

Question: have you ever had one of those ALL OF A SUDDEN IT’S BEANIE AGAIN!!!

For a snack I ate some sort of larva–YUM!

Allison assures me this is a date covered with peanut butter. Which is exactly what it looks like. Right?
I am loving La Croix Sparkling Water, especially the lime (I told you I love green!). So good!

[Mike: A quick editorial complaint here. Allison does, in fact, love La Croix, but to me it's a tease. You smell it and you swear it's going to taste good, but when you drink it there's no flavor. Am I the only one who feels cheated by this stuff?]
Dinner was an oldie (well, it’s an oldie where I come from): I made a low-cal pizza with wheat dough and banana peppers. A few green beans to fill it out? Yes, please.

Hope you all have a great weekend and, oh yeah, here’s another pic of BARNEY!!!

And…scene.
Alright, that about does it. Laugh if you want, but having witnessed the rapid evolution of Lando’s nicknames, I can guarantee Allison will in fact be calling her Barney by the end of the month. Beanie to Barney’s not that far of a leap.
Well foodies, thanks for putting up with me. I feel good about the post–I think the WOOT WOOT was pretty spot on, though I admit I don’t know Allison’s rules about when to make fonts a different color or bold. Still, nothing with a Back to the Future reference can be all bad, right?
Enjoy this fine June weekend everyone, and come back tomorrow for your regularly scheduled programming.
Seeya,
Doug Mike

I agree with Mike on the La Criox. I always expect it to taste like…I guess sweeter. Like a soda. And it doesn’t. I do like it mix it with juice though.

all the guys ive known named doug have been pretty awful, so be thankful for the mike moniker! i dont know anyone named dean tho, so many that would be okay. i think the 3 puppy photos and nickname progression are very appropriate! coming from a girl who calls my sister hannah “nina.” hannah-hannie-hans-neens-nina. makes complete sense, right??

hahahaha, I hate your parents did not have the foresight to call you Doug. That is tragic indeed.

Great post! I’m with you on the La Croix. It always sounds and smells good but the taste just isn’t there!

Doug-
This post= awesome. I think the abundance of exclamation points and various “AWESOME’S” made it very joyful and thus Allison-esque

Fab post! My cat’s name has evolved from Scout, to Scoutie, to Poutie to Pouncie. So Barney might not be that far off!

Ha! What a great guest post! Um, truth be told my husband’s name isn’t really Tony – its his “blog name” that he wished he would have been given at birth, being Italian!
His Dad was born in Italy, and decided to have American names for his kids, so instead of Tony and Tina, his kids names are Jeff and Jody!
And I agree with Courtney – Doug Dog Wine would have been perfect!!

Doug Dog Wine, really? Is it just me, or are the hypothetical blog-post titles going through a lando/barneyesque evolution of renamings?

Great post Mike!
I love La Croix! I have the cran-raspberry flavor but am going to try some of the others. The flavor fades fast but it’s perfect right off the bat.
