Apparently I forgot I had a food blog yesterday – because I ended up with 3 very standard, very lame pictures. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Try to stay in your seats, please!
Breakfast was a FlatOut Wrap with eggs, pinto beans and cheese:

Delicious, and EXTREMELY filling! Once we’d finished with our morning routines, Mike and I made sure to get in our 1 hour of “cross training” (according to Mr. Higdon) – so we walked Lando for 30 minutes, dropper her off at home, and then continued on for 30 minutes. After the walk – we let Jillian beat us up with more of her 30 Day Shred antics!
After quick showers – we were out the door – to go see:

Yep – Food, Inc.!
I’m really not sure yet how much of my “review” I am going to post on here. I’m very glad I saw the film, but I had several issues with it. Every other food blogger who has seen it and reviewed it, has been emphatic about how wonderful it is, singing the movies praises, talking about all the great points it raised, etc, etc, etc……I don’t fall in that group. I agree with the overall messaging (cleaner, healthier, better foods, more information & power to the consumer, more humane treatment of animals and people involved in the food industry) – but – well – there was a breakdown in the overall presentation and delivery of that message. I’m going to think about it this week (The main thing here – I don’t want to offend anyone or hurt anyone’s feelings or lose any of my fabulous readers – it’s not fun going against the grain) – and maybe I’ll have my review up by the weekend.
One the way home from the movie, Mike and I were both starving, so we stopped and treated ourselves to Penn Station! I got the Veggie sub with EVERYTHING (except those yucky mushrooms) on it!

This might not look delicious – but it was FRICKIN’ amazing! The spice mix that they top everything with, mixed with their honey mustard sauce - it’s like crack!
After a pit stop at home – we headed out to our friend Maureen’s birthday party (where I proceeded to not take one single picture – who does that?) – hung there for a while, then headed home around 8:30. By then I was starting to get hungry again so I made a MONSTER sweet potato that I had in the cupboard:

I’m not even sure what I did differently here, but most of them came out “cheetah” like – I don’t even have the “cheetah girls” recipe!
T’was a nice surprise!
Overall, Sunday was BORING – in a perfectly fine, relaxing way! In other blog news - I updated the “Running” tab to show our training (DID I TELL YOU GUYS? MIKE OFFICIALLY SIGNED UP TO RUN THE MARATHON WITH ME! – well – not WITH me, but he will be running the Columbus Marathon as well!) Check it out if you are interested!

I really want to hear what you thought of Food, Inc. Please, it made me START eating meat again! And who said it’s not fun going against the grain?!?! I call that: rebellious!

I can’t wait to hear your review! After hearing so many bloggers’ reviews, I was somewhat surprised to see that everyone seemed to have the same opinion. While I haven’t seen it yet (and I hope to at some point), the reviews have generally been similar to what I’ve heard from folks about Supersize Me. But I felt differently about Supersize Me… okay, enough blabbing – hope you do do a post about your review!

I’m hoping to see Food, Inc. this weekend! I’m sure it will be upsetting, but I want to see it nevertheless. It will give me something to think about, that’s for sure.

I’m interested to hear what you thought too. Don’t worry about offending anyone; it’s your blog and you are allowed to say what you want!

I’m going to second everyone and beg for a review too! I like hearing different opinions, and I haven’t seen the film. It’s not playing near me, but I take everyone’s positive review with a grain of salt.

Please post your review. I would love to hear what someone with a different opinion has to say. I am not sure if you read my review, but I learned a lot from the film and appreciated most of what it had to say. That said, like Quinn, I actually ate meat for the first time in months and months after seeing it.

I too want to hear all viewpoints. Especially because Chris won’t go see it with me. He said, “I know the holocaust happened…I don’t want to go watch movies about it.”
This from the guy that’s taken me to every Michael Moore documentary ever made and tried to sell me that “Bowling for Columbine” was a comedy.

I would LOVE to hear your opinion on the film. I can not imagine everyone has the same feelings and it would be great to hear a different feeling about it.

I want to hear what you really thought too! You should have hear the debate going on between Caitlin and I as we were leaving the theater, we had two totally different point of views.
I’m with Quinn, it made me want to start eating meat too! For the first time in a year I bought ground beef for dinner, but made sure it was organic and grass fed. Weird, right?

Honestly, I look forward to reading a review of that movie with a critical eye for once…please do post! I hope to see it this week as well.
And it’s awesome that he signed up for a marathon as well!

I hope you post too! I refuse to see the movie. REFUSE. And I don’t really give a flip if that offends someone or not. I know how factory farm animals are treated and I can’t stand to watch something like that because it’s very hard for me to see. So I have no desire to spend money on a movie showing me what 1. I already know and 2. What I hate seeing.
And if a reader gets offended by your opinion that’s on them and not your issue. Eff ‘em! Whoops did I say that outloud?
And Mike is running the marathon too! Damnit I am so jealous of you all. I’m going to stomp my foot, point to you guys, and make Scott run with me.

NPR had an interesting take on the film. They interview individual farmers. THey mostly said that they didn’t like Monsanto either but took offense at the film’s demonizing modern agricultural practices, since it’s the only way they can make a decent living.

My town is way too tiny to get that movie – I’ll have to wait til it comes out!
But say what you feel – I don’t think you’ll offend any of your readers – everyone has their own opinion, right?
Yeah for Mike doing a marathon!
I’ll stick to 5k’s thank you!
