Jabba the Hummus

For the first time since I hurt my foot – I woke up EARLY yesterday (5:05am), and got a REALLY good sweat session in!

Right now I have a temporary pass (just for the week) at Fitworks, a gym chain in Cleveland.  I tried out the spinning class yesterday and it kicked my bootay (and hurt my foot) – but I’m pretty sure I’m going to join.  While I don’t feel like a gym membership is necessary for everyone – here in Cleveland – the winters are WAY too snowy and WAY too cold to be running outside, so I definitely need access to a treadmill!   We shall see!

Breakfast – Spicy Oats – again.  (I really need to make it at home so ya’ll can see the the PRETTY version – I assure you they are LOVELY!

Followed up by a simple lunch – salad and original popchips:

I really need popchips to start creating economy size bags – I could eat these ALL day, EVERY day!  Thanks again for spoiling me popchips!

Important question:

picture-0064

Does anyone else think my hummus glob, resembles Jabba the Hut? (Yeah – I am cool like that.)

Doubting how cool I am?

Blam-O!

You really had no idea, huh?

Snack:  more of my no-bake accidental cookies!

I was supposed to go on a long bike ride with Kristin last night – but since spinning hurt my foot – I actually listened to my body and decline!  Aren’t ya proud!

Instead – my Mom had asked me to come over and help her with some redecorating (and bribed me with dinner) – so I headed to my parents house.

I thought I would show off my adorable little co-pilot:

God I’m a sucker for that sweet puppah face! (These are for you Janetha!)

After agonizing over where to hang pictures (life is hard, right?) – we decided on Chinese…

Bad decision :(

I’ve never ordered tofu at an Asian cuisine restaurant before – but as soon as I saw this – I was 95% the tofu had been FRIED before smothered in sauce.  Does anyone know for sure??  Am I right??

I ate about 3/4ths of this (should have stopped at about 1/4th), and ended up so sick to my belly the rest of the night:(

I love tofu – but this seriously was no good.   I definitely learned my lesson in ordering for this restaurant.

Okay my lovelies – I must jet!  One of my long time girlfriends is coming over tonight and I’m making us dinner (since my husband is married to law school for the next 9 months!)

HAPPY ALMOST FRIDAY!

Glad you got up early and got a workout in, good for you! As for the tofu, I hate to say it but they usually fry it, bummer huh? You can ask for them not to, obviously, so you’ll know for next time.

[Reply]

I agree with you about the tofu, I hate that it is always fried and greasy. Your puppy is so adorable!
Also, I’m a big fan of spicy oats!

[Reply]

hi dear, yes you’re correct. That kind of tofu is a specific type of tofu that is fried. It is usually used in soups in Asia, but American’s like to stir-fry it ALOT! Sorry that it didn’t make your tummy feel good!! Uusually it’s not that greasy by itself or in soup, but im’ guessing it’s the combination of the sauces and oil it was stir-fried in? :(

I love exploring new gyms and classes! Hope you enjoy it!!Glad you had fun decorating with your mama. Bummer about the chinese…. chinese always seems to make me semi sick (no matter what I order!)Lando is SOOOOOOO cute..what a great co pilot :) Have fun with the gfriend tonight

mmmmm spicy oats!

Awesome that you got a sweat sesh in so early in the A.M.! Love that :)

Usually you can get a steamed tofu at a Chinese restaurant but most of the dishes that have tofu do fry it. I personally like the fried tofu. I just pretend it’s not fried.

[Reply]

I love chinese food, too bad it was fried tofu! Cute puppy pictures!

Fitworks sounds niiice! I’m definitely obtaining a gym membership in Boston :D Snowy snowy! That sucks about the CHinese too, I used to love it- but I hate how it makes me feel so I stay away…oooor use TJ’s soyaki sauce for my own imitation!! Try it it’s so good!

I need to try pop chips! They look amazing.

Your dog is sooo cute!!

Love the co-pilot pics!! I wish my dogs were good in the front seat like that. Is it wrong that I want to devour your Jabba the hut hummus!!! I need my sabra fix when I get back from my road trip. Swung through Cleveland and stopped there for lunch on my way to New York…can’t believe we didn’t lost or turned around. We were going one way on the highway and got off for lunch then got back on and seemed like we were going back the way we came! But we made it out ok, so it all worked out.

I had your spicy oats this morning too – I just love how creamy the oats turn out!

Have fun cooking for your friend!!!

Take care of that foot! Gym memberships are a must in the winter, sometimes its just too dangerous to run on the dark and icy roads!

[Reply]

ohh so glad you got a nice sweaty session in! what a darling co pilot!

popchips are AWESOME! the chips and the company!

that tofu does look fried to me… but its tofu so at least that part is healthy right!

[Reply]

ouch, sorry your meal hurt your belly! it does look really good though. the first bites are always awesome, right, the last ones, not so much. popchips does make 3 serving sized bags…not huge but more than single serve! i’ve actually never seen the single serve except as samples!

[Reply]

How did I not know you live in Cleveland?! My fiance grew up in Northern Ohio but we live in a ‘Nati suburb now and he is STILL a huge Brown’s fan! That goes over really well in Bengal Country.

[Reply]

Your co-pilot is TOO cute!!!!

[Reply]

Nice co-pilot! where is her doggy shoulder harnesss and seat belt??
The hummus blob loooks like a funky piece of chicken to me. Happy Friday

[Reply]

LANDO!!!! I am obsessed with her – she’s so cute! Glad you’re liking the gym (minus the foot issues)!

I see Jabba on your salad but I died at the wedding picture, is that you?! Sorry the Chinese fought back :(

[Reply]

Hi! I am relatively new to your blog and have to say that Spicy Oats sound delicious! Even though they don’t always look that way :) I love, love, love everything spicy (I put tobasco on like everything) so I am definitely going to give them a try!

[Reply]

Your hummus just needs a long nasty green/black tounge and Jabba will be rocking.
Sorry to hear about the tofu unpleasntry :(

[Reply]

I agree with Murphy’s Dad. Both on the doggie seatbelt and the hummus looking like chicken. I had to do a double take, I would’ve sworn that was chicken!

Have a great weekend.

[Reply]

murphys dad. hilarious.

also why is kate first to comment? STALKER ALERT! :)

cant wait to bike ride with you again tomorrow – better keep that foot nice and healthy tonight!

[Reply]

If you want to hang with the hub is busy with law school and Bill is busy with Phd business, I’d be just fine with that :)

Enjoy your night!

[Reply]

I did your co-pilot!

The tofu definitely looks fried. I hate to break it you but it also doesn’t look like Chinese food. Lots of restaurants don’t make what Chinese people actually eat at home. We do have fried tofu dishes but also tons of wonderful non-fried ones. I’ve converted my Jewish husband who hated tofu to loving lots of it.

[Reply]

I meant I dig your co-pilot.
