Hot Child in the City

My day in NYC was pretty darn eventful – so I’m gonna go ahead and get right down to it!!!

Friday morning we got up at 5:50am to make sure we were all showered and ready to catch the 7am bus into the city!  :)

Every day – Christine takes a bus from NJ to NYC - and it’s about an hour & 40 minute commute, door to door.  We took the bus into the Port Authority, and then walked to 31st street, which is where the NY office for our company is.  Some “pick-me-up juice” was definitely needed along the way:

Yeah – that’s a LARGE iced coffee!

To top of my already delicious start to the day – my friend/coworker Alex had brought some bagels in for us – so I went straight for plain/veggie cream cheese combo:

picture-025

“Bagels and Schmear” as some of my New Yorkers would say!  YUM!!

After visiting with everyone in the office for a an hour or so – Angelina and I hit the town – and hopped on a Path train to Greenwich Village.  We had one VERY SPECIFIC place in mind, but got a little lost – which was fine since we weren’t in a rush – and I got to see these little sweeties along the way:

The most rambunctious, and OBVIOUSLY the cutest of the bunch:

A little pug/puggle friend!

After just staring at the puppies playing for 5 minutes, and asking a few nice strangers for directions – we finally found the destination we had originally set out for – PEANUT BUTTER AND CO.

picture-034

Peanut Butter Heaven!  They had an absolute ton of really cool stuff:

picture-037

PB, Fluff, Flavored Fluff (!!!!), Pretzels, Jams – you name it!  :)

I really wanted to try one of their tasty sound sandwiches, but I just was NOT hungry after that big breakfast, and the last thing I wanted to do was FORCE myself to eat.  :(

Instead – I got:

Spicy Peanut Butter!!!!!!!!!!! (Did you really expect anything less out of me?  And I’m not sure what is going on with my cheesy smile there…)  I can not WAIT to try this stuff!!!!!!

After getting our PB, and trying on some sunglasses on Canal Street with no luck – we headed back to the NY Office so we could eat lunch with everyone!  I know I say it to ya’ll every time – but I love my job, and I absolutely adore these people:

We went to a place right down the street called Silo – where you could literally get anything!  There was pizza, pasta, salads, sushi, sandwiches and more!  I kept it simple since it was hot out and we had been walking around all day:

Turkey sandwich (lettuce, tomato, mayo, mustard, lots of pickles), cucumber salad, and some delicious DIRTY chips!

To kill the last few hours of the work day, Angelina and I went and got manicures and a 10 minute massage – and finished just in time to meet our friends getting out of work!

Next on our list to hit up - Dylan’s Candy Bar:

picture-0521

This place was so freakin’ phenomenal – honestly – I have to devote another post to it – so it can be entirely by itself! So for now – all you get is the preview picture.  Don’t worry – I’ve eaten so much candy already – I’m pretty sure I have 5 cavities!

After all the walking around we did – we were THIRSTY – so we hit up Opal for some adult beverages:

picture-0111

From left to right – Angelina, Tyler, Christine, and moi!

Their happy hour special was “2 for 1″ - and they literally served you both drinks at once.  2 glasses of wine for $8?  Don’t mind if I do!

picture-005

At 5:30 – I got a text from the girls from AC/DC: Highways to Health, and they were nice enough to come all the way up town to meet us!!!!  :)

picture-009

Here’s a pic of me with Deirdre (a fellow native Cleveland-er), and Amelia!  I’m pretty sure these two just might be THE NICEST girls out there!  They were so nice, kind, outgoing, and funny!  We sat there and chatted the night away with ease!

Amelia/Deirdre – Thank you so much for coming to Opal – and for buying me drinks – you girls are the greatest!

On our way to catch the bus  home – I spotted this billboard and got SO excited I just had to take a picture for ya’ll:

picture-077

I <3 you Dex:lol:

Once we finally got home – I had some pizza, one last drink, and…

picture-086

I.WAS.SPENT!

It was such a long, fun, fabulous day – but we had been going about a million miles an hour for 19 hours straight.  The second my head hit the pillow – I was out!

Hope you are all enjoying your long weekend – I certainly am!

I’m very jealous of your PB&CO experience! I wanted to go so badly when I was in NYC.

Your trip looks like a lot of fun. I’ve always gone with other tourists so we’ve just done the typical Times Square thing but have always wished I knew people there to show me the real New York.

I love NY! I was there last Labor Day weekend and it was so much fun!

You must go to Greenwich Village, you must eat at Perilla NYC, you must have a drink at the Spotted Pig after, and you must end your night with YogurtLand. Do it!
