Call Me Crazy

Crazy Dog Lady that is…

For not having any evening plans all weekend – I felt like it was jam packed – and FLEW by!!

Sunday I didn’t wake up until 9 or so – because I’d been up all night with the sick pup.  We all finally fell asleep around 5am – so we slept in until 9 – and there was no more puking!     Wooohooo!

Getting up so much later than normal – I was ravenous!  Let’s see how breakfast stacked up – from top to bottom:wink:

Honeycrisp, Pumpkin Butter, AND Peanut Butter?!?!  I can’t imagine a more fall-appropriate breakfast!

Since we’d had such a busy day Saturday – between running errands, cleaning, etc – both Lando and I were pooped.  I had every intention of going to the gym Sunday morning – but I was too nervous/afraid to leave my sick pup home alone (*yes – you can call me “Crazy Dog Lady” – I’m okay with it).   So instead – I curled up with my little munchkin:

and tried to get a jump start on my workload for the week.   Wanna see how nerdly super cool I am? Check it out:

11.2upload 040

Yeah – dual laptop set up, Always Sunny (LOVE!) playing on one, TPS report (LOVE!!) rocking on the other.  You didn’t know I was THAT cool – huh?

Eventually I got up, ran errands, and walked the dog.  While running errands – I caved and picked up a bag of Reduced Fat Kettle Chips and Fat Free French Onion Dip. :) I’m not even exaggreating – I was SO excited to eat them when I got home – the idea of taking an extra 5 seconds to take a picture actually hurt my stomach (okay – that’s dramatic, but you get the drift).  I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I have a chip addiction!

[If there were a picture - the MISSING CHIPS AND DIP PICTURE WOULD GO HERE]

For dinner – I was very excited to create something delicious with all the produce I’d purchased over the weekend!  As a side – I made baked garlic fries:

11.2upload 042

and for the meal – Velveeta Shells & Cheese (the 1/2 fat/skim box) – with a TON of veggies I heated up in a skillet on the stovetop:

There really is a little of everything there!   Sweet onion, sweet potato, 3 kinds of peppers, and broccoli!  Perfect comfort food dinner, with a healthy twist!

So just went you thought I couldn’t sound like any more of a dog-obsessed-weirdo…

I’ll start with this:

11.2upload 058

When Lando needs to go out to use the bathroom, she bumps the blinds on the back door so they make a sound, and I open up the door and hook her up to her 30 foot tie/leash thing.  That way – she can run all around the yard, and the leash reaches the door, so in the winter (or middle of the night) – I don’t have to go outside with her.

Well last night – I let her out, and about 5 minutes later went to let her in – only for it to sound VERY STRANGELY quiet.   Eerily quiet.  So I said “Lando, you wanna TREAT?!” which always gets her to come running.   NOTHING.

Then I stuck my head out the door further to see a frayed/broken cable laying on the ground – no doggie attached!    I freaked – ran back inside (we live on the middle block between 2 BUSY streets) grabbed my shoes and told Mike what happened.  We bolted back outside, box of treats in hand, and started yelling “Lando”, and “TREAT“.  Well not even 15 seconds later, I hear a whole bunch of rustling in the leaves – and she gallops on through the neighbors yard because her fat booty wants a treat!  There’s a fence separating our yards so I just kept feeding her treats while Mike ran around the house to grab her.   I am SO glad she was okay – but proceeded to shake for about 20 minutes after because we were so lucky something terrible didn’t happened!

Here’s the little rug-rat right after – she just ran right in, and went back to eating her dinner:

She’s got a rough life…

After all that stress – I’d worked up an appetite, so I broke into the POM pomegranate I bought Friday, and made a yogurt parfait/thingy (Lando wanted in on the action):

I forgot how much I love pomegranates – it’s been pretty much a whole year since I had one (I don’t enjoy fruit when it’s out of season – it always tastes “off” to me!)  I see a lot more pomegranates in my future!

Okay – sorry for 2 dog heavy posts this weekend!  I’ll be back to my “normal”-only mentioning Lando once per post- self tomorrow!

Aww, I love the dog heavy posts because it helps me not miss my dog while at college. So thankful Lando was alright after getting out. We used to have scary situations like that with Montana, but now he’s an old fart who’d rather lie down than run around so we don’t have to worry so much

That’s so scary. A few weeks ago, I let Murphy walk off-leash with me to the dumpster. He was totally fine until he saw a squirrel and bolted. Scared the hell out of me.

I’m glad Lando was found and that she’s not sick anymore.

I always snap at Gigi for making towers out of our apples. I end up with a LOT of bruised apples. You so crazy, Dog Lady.

gurrrrrrrrlllll!!! you freaked me out with that story – I was having flashbacks of when Charley ran away!! Aren’t you glad your lil rug rat is a piggy who loves treats?!?! SO glad Lando’s ok!!!

That mac’ncheese mix looks awesome – I’m hungry. Did you see my HOT salad the other day? I posted those pics just for you – I never take pics of food anymore…but the buffalo sauce reminded me of you….and made me crave it even more!

Hot sauce for dinner 2-nite…. :)

How is Lando doing?? Is he still sick?

What I call crazy is how similar we are!

1. I also put Max out on a looong chain so he can reach the entire yard. If not, he’ll dig his way out. And we’ve also had scares when he escaped, and I almost went insane.
2. Max will also do anything for a treat.
3. I love “It’s Always Sunny…”

I’m so glad Lando is doing better! SHE (hehe ;) ) is such a cutie and you know I love seeing pictures of HER. I don’t think you’re a crazy dog lady- I think you’re an awesome mama. Love the dual laptop action

so glad Lando is doing better! she’s such a cutie.

way to beef – er, veg?- up some mac n cheese! I bet the hub would dig that :)

I legit almost had a heart attack reading Lando’s bustin-out-of-jail story. The Brat did that to me this summer. We have a gated yard, I opened the gate to leave, and she BOLTED down the road. The Brat likes to play a game of “chase me” all the time whenever I want to pick her up no matter where we are. I hate chasing her so the second she starts to walk away I stop going after her to pick her up. Once she was outside of the gate, I of course started running after her, which she loved because I was finally chasing her. I would stop, she would stop, I’d walk to pick her up, she’d run away. This continued for a good 20 minutes – ugh, I was SO pissed at her that day!

Aawww, I hope the pup feels better soon :(

Love your fall breakfast! Sometimes the most simple things are so delicious.

[Reply]

Oh wow that’s so scary. I’m glad she was only in the neighbors yard.

AW! LANDO!

[Reply]

OMG your heart must have stopped when you couldn’t find Lando!!!! I’d have been a trainwreck! So glad it worked out fine. Silly doggie.
That dinner looks so comforting and delish.

Ugh, I’m sorry about the Lando scare. I get nervous enough when I can’t find my cellphone. I’ll probably just keep my dog’s leash perpetually tied around my waist so I don’t lose him!

[Reply]

I need to get my hands on a pomegranate. I keep seeing them and not buying them because they’re so dang expensive. But oh so good!

[Reply]

I live on a really busy street and our dogs have escaped the yard before. Truly the worst feeling ever! Thankfully nothing has ever happened to them AND their tags have definitely come in handy! Glad you found yours so quickly!

[Reply]

that pomegranate looks delicious :)
and aww you probably were so stressed a/b the dog- he’s so cute

You are so funny. I love how much you love your dog! What’s a TPS report? Sounds like fun…;)

[Reply]

No apologies necessary for another dog post. That’s really scary! Although I guess running off, as well as that appetite, are good indicators that Lando is feeling much better!

[Reply]

Oh my gosh! What a scare. Poor little Lando :(
Glad he’s okay.
I like your breakfast stack!

[Reply]

“stacked up”… zing!

I also love your double laptop.

[Reply]

ay ay ay what a scare! i saw you post that on FB and was scared then happy.. the whole story here cracks me up only because you found her because she loves to EAT! i can totally relate.. my poochies are fataroos. i love your stacked up photo.

OMG FRIDAY IS SO SOON!

[Reply]

OY! I would have done lost my mind.

Garlic fries, hooray! Love them!

[Reply]

Poor doggie! And that is so scary when they get away from you! My dog (before she was an old lady) would just jump into our neighbors cars when they were unloading groceries and such.

[Reply]

So scary that she got away like that! That’s happened to me with Bailey and it’s always so scary!

I hope she is feeling better!

[Reply]

Your garlic fries look so tasty; yum. I hope the lshe is feeling better; sorry to hear you didn’t get much sleep.
I’m looking forward to meeting you on Friday in San Fran for the Foodbuzz Festival…I can’t wait!

Yes, I am often jealous when I see people that can walk their dog or let their dog outside with no leash… Max would be gone in a split second! That beagle nose gets them in trouble! But I wouldn’t have my silly puggle any other way, and I’m sure you agree!!! :)
