Saturday – Exploring the Market

Saturday morning – we were up around 6:30 – and headed out for a quick walk before we were supposed to meet up with everyone!  Friday might have been a little rainy – but Saturday was the definition of PERFECTION !  11.9fromupload 093

Breakfast was at the Ferry Building, which kept us plenty busy – there were so many things to look at and taken in!  Oh yeah!  AND SAMPLE!

The inside was full of vendors & restaurants, and outside there was a Farmer’s Market!   There was some pretty amazing food – but there was also some really cute/random arts & crafts!   Janetha and I both loved these weird little animal shaped things:

Doesn’t this look just like Lando? ( I know it doesn’t but I was missing both of my little love bugs, so almost everything I saw I either thought “Mike!” or “Lando!”)

There was never a dull moment – lots to take in!

All I could think of when I saw this was…

Ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, ring, BANANA PHONE (it’s for you Mama Pea – pick up!)

We ended up grabbing breakfast at one of the vendors – I went with the Egg Sandwich with Applewood Smoked Bacon, Fontina & Mozzarella!

JUST what I needed!  Best breakfast in a long time!

After breakfast we all had different breakout sessions to attend – and I had chose the Olive Oil tasting!   We walked in to see 6 different samples:

and a free bottle of California Olive Oil to take home!

The chef, Michael Tuohy was very interesting, and an excellent speaker!   Very cool guy!

With each sample – they asked us to:

Yeah.  I’m sorry. WHAT?!  You want me to slurp and swallow (TWSS!) olive oil as if it’s wine?  I’ll admit – I was extremely skeptical at first!  :???:

But once it was demo-ed for us – I took the leap – and I have to say – it was EXTREMELY interesting!!

Some tasted  like “grassy bananas”, others were “spicy”, others were “buttery”, and 2 were “???”

Once we were finished with our olive oils – it was time to head over to the afternoon event… which I’ll fill you in on in another post!!

Andy and I went to the morning olive oil tasting. It was so weird to slurp and swallow olive oil. Especially at 9am before even eating breakfast!

What a great time! The olive oil tasting sounds fun. I’ve never done that before.

Enjoy your day :)

Did the olive oils taste different from one another?

Michael Tuohy used to own a restaurant in Atlanta called Woodfire Grill. I’d only been there once, but it was pretty good.
