I wasn’t kidding!
Why tequila you ask? Well – only because I am lucky enough to have the MOST wonderful people in my life! My neighbor was out of town this week – and had asked me to go check on her cat a few times. I probably spent a total of 30 minutes of there – just playing with the kitty, and making sure it had food/water/etc. As a thank you gift (as if my 30 minutes worth of duty in 1 week necessitated a gift…) – my neighbor brought me back a HUGE bottle of tequila from Mexico!!!! 1 – Isn’t that the SWEETEST, MOST THOUGHTFUL thing ever? 2 – Does she know the GDW household, or what?!
Sunday started with some spicy oats and coffee at home:
Do you love my matching spring bowl and Easter coffee mug? Perfect for November…
I ate it all with this beautiful little spoon:
After my deliciously spicy breakfast – I was off – for my first volunteering experience with Lighthouse Boxer Rescue!
They had signed up to be at a local craft show, and needed volunteers to staff the booth!
I spent 3.5 hours getting to know the other volunteers, and spreading the word about Lighthouse. The best part – I got to look at this sweet little face all day:
Can you tell I had such a miserable time?
I got home just after 1 and scarfed down a home made pizza I threw together:
Then rushed out the door again to hit up my favorite running shop, Second Sole – so I could finally buy some inserts, and hopefully attempt to starting running again one of these days!!! (read: as soon as I left the store even though the clerk told me I should break the inserts in for at least a day before running! I follow directions well.)
After running 3 (pain free!!!!) miles with Kristin – I ran to Marc’s and picked up almost $50 worth of veggies.
One would think – that I’d have MORE THAN ENOUGH inspiration to cook dinner with that much fresh produce at home…
If that’s what you thought – YOU THOUGHT WRONG!
Instead – Mike and I went with Applebee’s Carside-To-GO.
I got the Smothered Chicken – which was just a grilled chicken breast topped with onions, peppers, & cheese – served with garden veggies, and a side of fries.
While this was SPUER TASTY…I’d really like to know how many calories were in it. I felt good ordering grilled chicken with veggies – but I’m pretty sure the word “smothered” and the side of fries negated any healthy parts of the meal.
I’m glad you guys all liked my excuses last night – there are plenty more where that came from!
Hope you are having a great Monday!

Lol. Tequila is definitely a gift you can only give to someone you know well and feel close to.
I had a dream last night in which my neighbor had a dog and it was Lando! I kid you not. I need to spend less time on blogs lol.

I love love love spoons! I use them so much I feel it’s a WASTE to use one that isn’t rockin’ my face off!!
Your pizza looks amazing.
I had an unfortunate encounter with tequila about a decade ago so I take it rather easy with the stuff these days!

LOL Wishful thinking on the dishes. It’s rainy and supposedly going to snow here!
LMAO I am a fry addict! I LOVE fries of any kind, but if no one saaaw you eat it… then it had no calories so hit delete now while there haven’t been too many eyes on the fries.

Can I cat sit for your neighbor?!
So wait…is that sausage and peanut butter on top of your spicy oats? What happened to the poached egg?
I’d volunteer for a dog resuce any day! Perhaps I should even look into it…

a) whenever someone shouts TEQUILA… i think of the pee wee herman dance from Pee Wee’s Big Adventure (yes, i’m demented)
2) i want to hear ALL about your boxer rescue volunteering!
d) you reminded me i’ve been wanting to try your spicy oats b/c i’m wayyyy more of a savory than sweet person, so a lot of oats recipes don’t really do it for me. i guess i know what’s for breakfast tomorrow!

yes, you can totally make tequila lime chicken or something and then not feel as bad about making margaritas out of the whole bottle. or, say f-it and just make margaritas out of the whole bottle.
oh, and i play that excuses game ALL the time. like i’ll go to the grocery store and get some amazing ribeyes or something, and then i’ll be too exhausted to make them – so i order pizza. oops
