Mexico Part 2

Happy Saturday!!

Please don’t hate me for talking more about my fabulous vacation! Ready for some more Mexico?

The first full day we were there – I was up by 6am (I’m thinking it was partly because of the 1 hour time difference, partly because my silly face passed out at 8pm the night before)

I put on my bathing suit, and headed out, to find this waiting for me: 11.30fromupload - Mexico 023 11.30fromupload - Mexico 024

Pretty rough, huh?

I got down there early enough that I was able to snag us one of these little cabana thingies.  I thought I was lucky – but after about 15 minutes I was covered in bug bites – so Mike and I switched over to lounge chairs by the pool.

I brought my book, and a “Coca-Cola Light’ along with me:

Book – my verdict is still out.  I’m finding Elizabeth Gilbert severely annoying, and I feel like she is making up so stories – and yet I’m still reading.  We shall see. :???:

Coca-Cola Light:

= No good!  It definitely does not taste the same as Diet Coke.

After hanging out for an hour or two – we decided we should get breakfast!  First Mexican breakfast:

Delightful!  I didn’t take pictures of all my meals on the trip – but I can tell you, every single plate of food I ate – involved potatoes and cheese. Talk about heaven!

To make things even better – the wait staff would just bring you alcoholic beverages, even though you didn’t order them.  Example:

I mean – if you put a drink down in front of me – I am going to drink it!

By 10am – I was done with my “reading & relaxation” for the day – and ready for some fun.  We decided to check out – the SWINGSET BAR! (okay – really – it wasn’t a swingSET it was just a bar with swings – but it’s a LOT more fun for me to call it the Swingset Bar – so just humor me! )

My feelings about the swings:

Mike’s feelings about the swings:

Both feelings in one picture:

To each their own!

My drink of choice – more tequila – except this time my “blanco” request got lost somewhere in translation – and I ended up with gold tequila:

11.30fromupload - Mexico 051

And by gold tequila – I mean holy crap a GLASS FULL OF TEQUILA.

That glass up there?  You see it?  Yeah – I’m not kidding – that is ALL tequila.  Tequila and ice, that’s it.  Insane?!  Yes.  But… I drank it:

11.30fromupload - Mexico 053

I can’t stress to you enough how easy I am to amuse, and how infinitely happy the swingset bar made me.   I’m pretty sure I made Mike take about 35 pictures of me, and I’m pretty sure Mike yelled at me at least 50 times for my inappropriate swinging.

11.30fromupload - Mexico 056

To top it off – the view wasn’t bad either!

11.30fromupload - Mexico 059

After putting in a long day of making friends with too many people after having too many full glasses of tequila at swingset bar, Mike thought it was best if we took a quick afternoon nap, and then headed off to dinner.    I didn’t put up a fight!

There was dinner involved – but no pictures.  I did manage to take pictures of more booze though!

After dinner we went to their “Sports Bar” for some after dinner drinks:

11.30fromupload - Mexico 178

Even though almost everyone would look at this sign and call the bar Desires – I decided to call it Desiree’s. Yeah.  Whatever.

Again – shots were put down in front of us multiple times – even though we had not ordered any shots:

Some were even flaming! 11.30fromupload - Mexico 069

I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again – if you put it down in front of me, I’ll drink it!

So now that you definitely have to think Mike and I are alcoholics  – I leave you with the bedside table before I passed out that night – because it really just makes me laugh.

Water, water, water, water, water, vodka.

I think I’ll just end it there.

2 more recaps to come!  (if you don’t want to hear them – just tell me and I’ll stop!)

Looks like you guys had an amazing time, I’m so jealous!
I agree on the book. I spent most of my time reading it wanted to slap her.

OMG these Mexico recaps have been making my life!!! Right when I saw the first post and the pictures of the beach and the Jurassic Park enterence, I IMMEDIATELY googled the resort!!! I want to come!!! And then I just read about a bar with swings and then free shots…

I’M THERE!

Have I mentioned PARADISE??? :-D

Haha, I found the book annoying, too, but still read it all!

Tengo celos de sus vacaciones en Mexico, pero yo voy a Jamaica el 19 de diciembre! (get that??) :)

that looks like SUCH an awesome trip!!! now to convince James we HAVE to go…

yea throughout the book i kept thinking how i didn’t like it..yet i read the whole thing. I feel like I took some good stuff away from it (pursue life to the fullest!) but it wasn’t a “i can’t put this down” kind of book.

What a lovely vacation! Was the resort all-inclusive? I hope so, otherwise your dinner bills might have been pretty high with all those drinks!
I read Eat, Pray, Love, and I too found Gilbert to be annoying. All the grand changes she makes in her life are her choices! And everything in her life just works itself out, no problem, la la. I really hated the part where she was so concerned about what she would do for money, and then suddenly voila! A magical book advance comes through! Like that happens every day, to everyday people. Riiiight.
