I couldn't put my finger on what exactly bothered me about the author/main character, but sometimes I really just wanted to smack her silly! I almost always carry a small bottle of Tabasco in my purse - you never know when you need to kick it up a notch!! In Thailand they use coconut palm sugar to add to the flavor but the sweet taste is not overwhelming. It should be more salty than sweet.
