Mexico Part 5

The last Mexico recap!!!

Did you miss these??

Mexico Part 1

Mexico Part 2

Mexico Part 3

Mexico Part 4

If so, check them out!

Our last full day in Mexico – we had a LOT of fun, but I started getting sad, because I knew reality would return all too quickly.  To make me happy – I made sure to eat extra potatoes and cheese for breakfast!

(and some taco thing – I have no idea what it actually was, but it was delicious!)

We also realized, (on our last day) there is a special “drink of the day” – that changes each day of the week.  When we realized it was Sangria – we were all over it!

We also didn’t catch on until the last day that there was a “Paella Hour” every day!  Once we figured it out – we made sure to take advantage of it, and make up for lost time:

I stuck with the shrimp, calamari, and mussels – Mike worked on the chicken wings, and chorizo.  This was SOOO good.  Especially the calamari!!!

Then we really just hung around and enjoyed our last day there, and the relaxation that went with it.  We finally went to get a late dinner – but started with a quick drink at Desiree’s before our meal.

I was so excited when I walked in and saw – UTZ’S!!!!!!

I LOVE Utz Pub Mix – and was definitely not expecting to find it in Mexico!

We tried to sneak in a last few self-taken pictures (we both don’t really like asking strangers to take our picture)

Both are cute – but blurry – and the liquor bottles are so prominent!

We finally caved and asked our favorite bartender, Alberto if he could snap a picture for us!

Much better!

Dinner was at Portofino – an Italian themed restaurant – that they also tout as their “fanciest” restaurant.    It was a weird meal – we were crammed in the back corner and being rushed through our meal – so I don’t really have lots of pictures – but I do have ONE that I wanted to share.

I ordered the “Fish Plate” as an appetizer – which was described as a plate of salmon, mahi mahi, and white fish (doesn’t sound terrible, right?):

11.30fromupload - Mexico 191

This was the most disgusting thing I’ve seen in a while. If the picture doesn’t do it justice – let me give you a description.  It’s like someone went around taking scraps of fish off other peoples plate – put them on to this plate – and then smashed a plate on top of it to make it one big blob looking thing.  And while you can’t judge a book by it’s cover –  I will tell you – it tasted just as bad as you might think based on my description.  I felt like I was eating fish guts it stank so badly.  YIKES, right?!

But I can’t leave you on that note!  Because all in all – Mexico was FABULOUS! It was so great to be able to just relax, and not have any sort of schedule.  Even better – I got to spend 6 stress free days with my husband.  Mike and I haven’t been able to spend that sort of quality time together since our honeymoon (2 years ago!!) – so we both came home extremely happy, very relaxed, and just a few pounds heavier!

Regular blogging from here on out!   Happy Tuesday!

I love your trip recaps! I’m the same way on the last day- I get all sad, as if I’m already home or something. We were supposed to go to Mexico in May, but cancelled due to all of the swine flu nonsense… I’m so ready to re-book after seeing your pics!
