When left to my own devices…

…I typically do very predictable things – from a standard list of 10 options or so.  You know I’m a creature of habit.  Mike can very easily pick what I did on days that he is at the law school all day.

I was on my own for breakfast today – so before I hit up the gym – I went with:

Spicy Oats. Shocker* right?   It’s been a WHILE since I’ve had Spicy Oats (I checked – I made ghetto versions in November – but before that it was October 11th!!!)

Just as fabulous as I remembered!

Then – I went to spinning to meet Kristin and my new bloggie friend Heather…

As if Heather and I didn’t already totally hit it off the first time we met – today – she brought me a present:

Not just any present – but FOOD! (I mean – does this girl know me or what?!)

They were homemade cranberry orange Christmas cookies:

I can’t even lie.  There were probably 7 or 8 in the bag. I ate EVERY SINGLE ONE in the first 5 minutes I was home from the gym.   They were THAT GOOD.  Now ya’ll know I’m a chip/salty girl most of the time – but when I find a good sweet treat – I tend to go NUTS!

Now back to this whole – left to my own devices thing.

Mike has meetings all evening with “law people” (he’s got so much going on – I can’t keep it all straight!) – so that’s left me with my usual options.

I guess this is an easy one – but you can imagine – a foodie loves to grocery shop – so I decided I’d go spend about an hour and a half just wandering around the grocery store.  Here’s what I came home with:

The longer I have there – the weirder my selection is.  Hence the Fruity Pebbles, mixed with Diet Pops, mixed with veggies, mixed with chips, mixed with…you get my point…

2 other things I’ve been known to do when bored – be a crazy dog mom (shocker!*), and drink (shocker!*)…

So I give you my current choices of the hour:

A little bit of both.

No – Lando is not drinking the wine.  But I figured since I was taking a picture of the wine for the blog anyway, why not get her adorable face in.  She did such a good job “sitting” and “staying” – I gave her lots of treats!

My friend Angelina is coming over – so I went downstairs to throw in a load of laundry (chores/cleaning is another personal favorite when I’m left alone).

She’s not allowed in the basement due to the cricket issues we had over the summer.  She always stops right on the landing.  She’s so smart.

12.6upload 027

When I saw how much laundry we had (I knew it was bad but I feel like I can ignore it since I don’t have to walk by it) – I actually gasped out loud.  And then – rather than hide in shame – I thought I’d share with you my mess (like my darling friend Meghann who always tells it like it is  )

12.6upload 029

Yeah – it’s that bad!

I’m off – wine, doggie face, and random recipes are calling my name!  Hope you are having a great Sunday night!

* In proofreading this – I noticed I said “shocker” a trillion times.  I apologize.

I want you to buy a swingset for Christmas, set it up in your living room and just be sitting there swinging and drinking your wine when Mike gets home from his law shindig :)

Those cookies look so yummy! Christmas cookies are seriously dangerous – it’s always hard not to eat them in one sitting!!
