Yesterday was a BUSY day – I had camera class from 10am until 4pm!
By the time I woke up, showered, blogged, got my coffee and got dressed – I barely had time to grab a left over piece of pizza before I ran out the door (let alone take a picture) – so:
My first class was all about my specific camera – the Nikon D5000!
I LOVED IT! There was so much too learn, I tried to take it all in!!! There was diligent note taking:
and lots of pictures of said notes, since there weren’t many other subjects in the room to test out the new functions I was learning on the camera!
Black and white, and “Cartoon” settings:
and I turned poor Harvey’s head into something resembling a monster thanks to the “fisheye” function!
I had a 2 hour break in between classes so I ran a few errands then stopped at my parents to snag some free lunch!
I was planning on a sandwich or salad, but there didn’t have too much (hey, beggars can’t be choosers, right? I showed up looking for free food!
) – so instead I went the nacho route:
Delicious!
After my afternoon classes were done for the day – I went home and SKYPED for the first time! Skype really is the greatest – I can’t believe I waited to long to use it! I was able to see my lovely best friend’s face – who I haven’t seen in person in over a year – it was WONDERFUL!
We talked for over an hour!
Once I was done with telling everyone who would answer my phone calls how much I loved Skype – I headed over to my friend Angelina’s for a low key Girls Night!
She had tons of yummy food for us: (see that salami??? it was a white wine salami – I forgot to snag a picture of the package – and it tasted AMAZING!!!!)
and what would a Girl’s Night be – without WINE?
Angelina also whipped up an awesome homemade pizza – using TJ’s Whole Wheat Pizza dough, pesto, artichokes, and feta!
Absolutely amazing!
Funny thing is – I just always think MARINARA when I make my pizzas at home – I never stop to think outside the box! I need to start trying pizza combos that don’t involve red sauce!
I tried to make friends with the family dog Martini – but he was having NOTHING to do with me!
Did I mention that Girl’s Night involved wine??
There were lots of choices since everyone brought a bottle! (well – except me – I brought pretzels – in hindsight – I’m LAME!)
My favorite was this bottle – I thought it was so pretty!
Thanks for a great night ladies – I had a blast!!
Question – Do you make friends with your friend’s friends?
For example – my friend Cricket, who I know from college, had a whole bunch of high school friends who I heard about for years, but never had met. After 5 years of hearing stories about them – when I finally met them, I felt like they were my friends too, and now I keep in touch with them through Facebook, and have invited them to parties at my house before. But – I know other people who don’t feel comfortable in situations like that, and prefer to stick to the group they are comfortable in. Me?? I love to branch out, I love making new friends
How about you, do you stay put, or do you branch out????

YEAH!!! Thanks for coming over! It was great to catch up with “our” friends.
Also, I think I’m going to get Martini on Xanax. (I’m kidding, but sooo emotional! :/ ) Sorry he wasn’t more friendly!

Your camera class sounds cool. I really need to learn the features on mine.
I’m sort of friends with my friend’s friends. Like if I was having a party, I’d invite the friend’s friends, but only if the original friends were coming too. Follow that?!

lol at the fisheye pic. my friend did something like that to a picture of me in high school (using a computer and scanner…very 90s) and showed everyone. I was so pissed at him!
I love your friends name, Cricket. So cute!
I branch out and befriend my friend’s friends, but we don’t hang out or anything…so I guess I’m just acquaintances with them.

You know my answer to this question….I met you through a friend and even though we don’t see each other often, I’m grateful! Miss you!

This post made me laugh out loud on three separate occasions, and I hardly laugh aloud when reading something.

Dude. We so need to Skype together soon. I’ll bring some wine and a fat pug.
For my bachelorette party, 14 of my closest friends & family came from all over the U.S. to party with me in Vegas. Some of them are now better friends with each other than they are with me now!

That’s my favorite Pinot at TJs as well! Ok, and it’s a staple because it’s only 3.99… i think it was featured on teh Today Show segment a while back about wines for the recession

The more the merrier! I often meet people at parties that I become friends with! Oh, and for christmas this year I got my mom a webcam so we could skype. It makes being thousands of miles apart sooo much easier!

Whenever my little brother snags food at my parents house he ALWAYS makes nachos like that. What is it about our rents always having cheese and tostitos? haha
I am in desperate need of a girls night…sounds like you had a blast!

That picture of Harvey is priceless!
I have always been really shy and have had a hard time mingling with new people. But a I’ve gotten older and practiced it more, I’ve gotten much more comfortable striking up a conversation with someone new.

I’m incredibly jealous of your camera class. I’ve had my Canon for over a year and have yet to learn how to really use it properly.
As for your friend ? – Some of my closest friends at this moment started as friends of friends. Now I love them like they were my friends first. Does that make any sense??? I love meeting new people myself. It’s great to have people who have known you forever but I also think there are people you are meant to connect with at different stages of your life.

i think branching out is good! as we get older especially, i find it’s good to have different types of friends. opposed to high school maybe where it’s all about boys + shopping LOL. anyway, moving to a new place forced me to learn how to branch out and while it was scary to make plans with people who were virtual strangers, now they are some of my best friends in the world!!!

I thought I was the only one out of the Skype loop haha! I love it – SO much better than the phone or gchat! I love meeting friends of friends. One of my good friends from college had another circle of friends and it wasn’t until after college that I got to hang out with them – SO FUN!
