Forgetful vs. Lame

I have the attention span of a fly (or really – either one of my dogs).  On a regular basis, as I’m blogging in my head (I know Mama Pea does it too!) – I’ll think to myself “OHHH!  THAT’S A GREAT POST TITLE!”, and sure enough…roughly 10 seconds later, I can’t remember it.  Don’t you have when that happens?   (I like to call it forgetful, but maybe it’s just that my ideas aren’t that great!)

ANYHOW…

Breakfast yesterday was this pretty little mix:

1.28 004

Vanilla Chobani, my Green Dog Goji mix, and some pom seeds

1.28 006

It looks as pretty as it tasted!

After I was done eating breakfast – I got ALLLLLL excited about my morning coffee – because I purchased THIS at Target the other night:

1.28 007

One of my all time favorite tricks from waitressing, was making Hot Chocolate, by using hot COFFEE as the liquid, as opposed to plain water!  I mean – how did I not learn this trick until I was 23???

Powder in cup:

1.28 008

Pour in coffee:

1.28 009

ENJOY!   If you’ve never tried this trick – TRY IT!  I promise you’ll love it!  Although – I will say – I just learned yesterday – the trick doesn’t work as well when you use flavored coffees.  Flavored Coffee + Powdered Hot Chocolate = So Sweet You Could Gag.  Stick to regular coffee.

We were treated to lunch, thanks to a new company re-org… You can’t go wrong feeding pizza and salad to the masses. :)

1.28 010

Followed by some afternoon grapes:

1.28 012

When are grapes in season????  I never know – but I ONLY like grapes when they are really crunchy and hard (TWSS – I can’t even control it anymore, it just comes out, TWSS…AHHHHHHHHHH!) – and the bag I bought this weekend has been awesome!

After work I came home and went for a 4 mile run OUTSIDE, which felt great!  I really have become such a baby about the treadmill…I’ll pick 2 degree outdoor running over treadmill ANY day!

By the time my run was over – it was well after 8 and I was starving!!!!  I had an awesome recipe planned, and intended on taking pictures of the whole process…but…I was too damn hungry to snap the pictures, I made the meal as fast as humanly possible!

The final product looked AWESOME, and tasted the same!!!!

1.28 001

Brown Rice with Shrimp, Edamame, Eggs, and Avocado!!!!!!

1.28 003

SO SO SO SO GOOOD!  The avocado is totally what did it! I’ll post the recipe for you one of these days! :)

Strike Out Happy

Yesterday was a GOOOOD morning!   Lucky for me, Kristin the newly engaged girl, decided she should treat all of her friends to bagels in the morning.  Seeing as it was SUCH a special occasion – I was in NO position to turn down a delicious EVERYTHING bagel!

1.27 020

It takes a lot of work to not eat a bagel every morning – SOOOO good!

Lunch was more of that G.D. chicken salad that just won’t leave me alone the last of my chicken salad leftovers from the other day, mixed with broccoli and lettuce:

1.27 021

and a side of DIRTY chips – I dare you to find me a better chip.  I DARE YOU. (Please interpret that as an open invitation for you to send me free chips everyone.  Thanks.)

1.27 023

Continuing on my winter citrus kick – I had my first grapefruit of 2010 as an afternoon snack!

1.27 024

I know some people don’t care for grapefruits because they are just too sour (perhaps my obsession with them says more about my sarcastic personality than my actual taste  ) – but I just LOVE this fruit.

Although…I don’t just eat it.  I pick it apart.  Like SERIOUSLY dissect it:

1.27 025

Dinner kind-of-sort-of never happened…

I ran home from work to get changed because I had my volleyball league playoffs super early last night – and was then right back out the door.

I stopped at Target after we sucked, and lost our game, just to grab deodorant, and walked out $150 dollars poorer. :(   Two of my more shameless purchases being:

1.27 012

Hey – we don’t have cable – we watch a lot of DVDs, and I really miss Food Network.  Don’t judge!

The second being my all time favorite laughable attempt at dinner:

1.27 013

I just can’t say “No”

Last but not least – because I haven’t done it in a few days – look at this cute pupper picture Mike managed to get:

1.27 001

How can you not love those faces?!?!?!  I don’t care how horrible a day I’ve had at work – I come home, and I’m instantly happy! :)

RANDOM HELP REQUEST:

I need blog help!  Lately (this has nothing to do with the new site design) my text is either wrapping really funny, and on top of the pictures, or I need to have like 2 feet of space between my text and pictures.  Anyone have any tips/tricks to fix this so it’s just a normal space between the text and pictures??

LEFTOVERS ARE LAME

Since I had a ton of pom arils left over from my chicken salad the other day – I decided I should buy some yogurt, and work on getting rid of those before they go bad!1.26 002Vanilla Chobani, pom, and my [me]&goji creation!  Might not be spicy oats, but still pretty delicious!

From the second I woke up on Monday – my throat was scratchy, and the very last thing I want/need right now is to get sick! :(   I did my best to fight it off with some vitamin C:1.26 003 Although I’m not quite sure it worked! :(

Now – let’s talk about leftovers…

One thing about leftovers – I’m sick of them by the second day. So while this chicken salad was really great Sunday – by Monday I was already bored with it, and yet somehow, it turned up as my lunch:1.26 004 Still good, I’m just ready for a change of pace!

Snack – grapes (which are TECHINICALLY a leftover from the chicken salad making!):  1.26 006After feeling resentment towards my food all day  – I decided it was time for a kick ass dinner.

Main ingredient for kick ass dinner:1.26 101Ohio City Garlic & Chive fresh pasta!!!!1.26 102While the pasta was cooking – I heated up some spicy turkey sausage Mike’s half of the dinner:1.26 104 and roasted some broccoli – 30 minutes at 375:1.26 107 Put some sauce on the pasta:1.26 105 Stole a bite or two of the sausage for Mike, and then combined everything in a bowl:1.26 108 Pasta perfection!  Fresh pasta is the absolute BEST! If you are ever in Cleveland, stop at the Ohio City Pasta counter in the WestSide Market, there products are AMAZING!

This sore throat is really sucking the life out of me – so I was really pretty boring yesterday!

However one VERY exciting thing did happen – I do need to say CONGRATULATIONS TO MY FRIENDS KRISTIN & TIM – they got engaged last night! SO HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH!! :)
