While I DO hate Valentine’s Day, and think it’s such a stupid holiday – I must admit – all the “love in the air” must have gotten to my brain!
I woke up way earlier than normal for a Sunday, and thought – WHAT CAN I SURPRISE MY LOVED ONES WITH??
Mike’s easy (TWSS) – all the boy every needs in a Double Cheeseburger (or it’s lamer counter part – the “McDouble”) – or these:
I have to admit I got a little “drooly” over this one, but the temptation passed!
as for the pups – they are pretty easy too! 2 peanut butter filled KONGS! (look at the TORTURE in their eyes as I say “STAY” until I take my picture)
Then I started thinking about my parents and brothers and I came up with the idea of Main Street Cupcakes – a Hudson born bakery that just opened a new location in Rocky River! :mrgreen;
Long story short – I was going to go get the cupcakes RIGHT at 10am when they open, but I found out my parents weren’t home and I was locked out of their house until 3pm. So rather than make 2 trips – I figured I’d just wait until 3 – and get it all done in one trip!
I was so excited walking up to the door – snappin’ pictures like a good little food blogger:
To find: THEY WERE SOLD OUT!!!
Turns out, since they’ve only been open for 2 weeks – they are still selling out daily!!!!
(I mean – HELLO guys, doesn’t that have to say something about how awesome their cupcakes are????)
While I was bummed - the ladies working there were really nice, and they let me in, and let me snap a few pictures of the last pick up order of the day…
It took every ounce of my being not to grab them and run!
Don’t they look amazing?! I have a vacation day on Friday – and by that statement alone – I’ll let you guess where I’ll be at 10am on the dot…
Main Street Cupcakes – here I come!
To drown my sorrows – I stopped at the Heinen’s Salad Bar on the way home and got this lovely mixture:
and for dinner – my parents invited us over for a free meal!
How cute is my Mom
– look at the salad/appetizer spread:
The most delicious spicy crab dip in all the world (from Bassett’s in Port Clinton)
The main course – pizza and subs from Romeo’s – a local place that has some kick butt food!
I got the Chicken Teriyaki sandwich:
which was REALLY good, but oddly saucy. What a fun way to describe something. Oddly saucy.
And for dessert, since we were cupcake-less – my Mom made these:
Isn’t she the best?
So yes, I still hate Valentine’s Day, and I still think it’s the stupidest holiday ever – BUT I did make it a point to remind (note: REMIND, not SHOW for the first time since LAST VALENTINE’S DAY) my loved ones how much they mean to me!

You are my hero. I can’t believe you were like, “Uh, can I come in and take some pictures of your cupcakes?” You should just come over…we make cupcakes all the time.

I’m impressed that your dogs listen to stay. Murphy does not. He just stuck his face in a tub of hummus actually. I don’t know the command for that.

Jay had to wait line for 20 minutes Saturday morning to get me cupcakes! They were FANtastic!

Ugh – I hate V- day too. My husband and I celebrated for the first few years we were together, but now we don’t even really do anything! Fine by me though. I would much rather get flowers on a completely random day than a “Hallmark” holiday! Or may “American Greetings” holiday is more appropriate?

porter is learning “stay”
last night i put my palm right in front of him and said STAY… he immediately licked my hand and flopped down on the floor.
clearly the training is too exhausting for him!

And it was so sweet of you to think of your loved ones with sweet treats. Bummer about the cupcake spot – you’ll definitely have to try them in the future and report back. They look sinful.
And sending you lots of VDay blogger love – even if you don’t want it
xoxo
