Baltimore’s Best

Hi bloggies! While I’m making my 6.5 hour drive out to Baltimore for the Fitbloggin’ Conference and to see some of my VERY MOST FAVORITE GIRLS IN THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD – the lovely Joanne from CrazyBananas offered to be your tour guide through – none other than – BALTIMORE!

Hey there beautiful Green Dog Wine readers!

I’m Joanne from CrazyBananas and I’m here to share some insider information with you. I know there are at least a few of you going to the Fitbloggin’ conference, including Ms. Allison herself, so I offered to do a guest post for you all, because I’m a Baltimore native! I’m crazy jealous of everyone attending the conference, but I’ve decided I will have to live vicariously through you all for the weekend!

Having spent 23 years of my life in Charm City I truly believe no visit to Baltimore would be complete without the following:

1. Utilize the Light Rail! It’s super cheap and you would be seriously missing out if you spent the whole weekend downtown! I even recommend taking it from the airport to the Marriott, it’s much cheaper than a cab.

2. Go to the aquarium!

It is a little expensive, but it is totally worth it! It’s the national aquarium after all!

3. If they don’t feed you enough at the conference just eat all of your meals at Harborplace! Just kidding, but they do have really great options and it is close to the conference. You can find sushi, pizza, Greek, seafood, fine dinning, and everything else you could possibly want all at Harborplace. Don’t even get me started on the shopping!

4. Take the Light Rail. Oh wait, that was number 1! But seriously, if you only take it once, take it here:

Robert E. Lee park is only about a 15 minute light rail ride from downtown (get off at the Falls Road stop). Running here is pretty awesome, if you’re into that kinda thing. I also recommend running through the Federal Hill/Canton area which are right downtown.

5. Eat the seafood. Seriously. It’s guaranteed to be good, if not absolutely phenomenal. The Rusty Scupper is amazing but a little pricey and there’s always Phillips at Harborplace.

6. When in doubt, go to Whole Foods.

This one is located within walking distance of the Marriott on the other side of the Harbor.

7. One thing I miss most about Baltimore is the bagels. If you have a hankering, go to Sam’s in Federal Hill (also walking distance from the Marriott). Their veggie cream cheese is out of this world.

Things you definitely shouldn’t do: 1. Do not go swimming in the Harbor.

Okay, that’s only one thing.

Sorry this is so short, there is definitely much more to tell, but I will let you explore a little on your own. Also, Allison gave me a deadline so I need to send this off right now. Psych, I just asked her if I could do this yesterday so it is totally my fault!

I hope you all have a fantastic time at Fitbloggin’ 2010!!!!!
