This morning I got an email – telling me that some old dorms, frat houses, and the old bookstore had been torn down at BG – and I was overcome with a sense of nostalgia!
I graduate from Bowling Green State University in 2005 (5 year plan – WHAT’S UP?!
) and today it hit me – I haven’t been back in 5 years, and that totally bums me out that it’s been that long!
I know some people would go back to high school, or maybe even grade school if they had the chance – but for me – it would be college. It was such a WONDERFUL time in my life, and I had so much fun, and was so care free!
(while I was definitely heavier here – I feel like I must note – that is a HUGE puffy vest I’m wearing)
Oh yeah – and I met the man of my dreams!
AHHH – the good old days!
Now if only “College Allison” would have realized sooner rather than later that teaching was not the profession for her…
I definitely need to make some plans for a trip back up there!
So while I’m off on that tangent – I’d love to know – Where did you go to college – and how do you feel about it now?
Breakfast – Spicy Oats “Vegan” style…
…okay, so “vegan” style might be a stretch – really I just mean – “I had spicy PB instead of an egg” – but hey – let me go with it okay?
Lunch was last night’s leftovers which were still AMAZINGLY delicious!
Followed up with some hummus and CUCUMBERS as a snack (apparently – the other day I called my cucumbers “carrots” – luckily Kristin pointed out to me the error of my ways!)
When I left work yesterday – it was in the 60’s(!!!!!!!!!!!!!) so I rushed home as quickly as I could, put on my running gear – and hit the road for 4 miles. AHHHHHHH WARM WEATHER – it makes me SUCH a happy person!
By the time I was done – I was totally starving, and totally craving protein and cheese – so I racked my brain to come up with a quick, easy, delicious dinner. The results?
Flatout Wrap Quesadilla – with TJ’s Jalapeno Chicken Sausage, spinach, and a sprinkle of swiss and colby:
You all know how I feel about pickles – so I had to make sure they got some lovin and got their own close up:
Dinner was hot and ready in 5 minutes – and it was filling and delicious! I love when I stumble on a quick idea and it turns out wonderfully!
Any big plans for the weekend? As for me – I’m scheduled to run 14 miles – THAT’S FARTHER than I’ve ever run before! You think I’ll make it??
HAPPY FRIDAY!

I get super sappy in August when everyone is getting ready to go back to college. I used to work at the bookstore at B-W: it was fantastic the beginning of each semester because I could work as many hours as I wanted, got to see all my friends when they came in to buy their stuff, and I got 25% off textbooks!!!
You totally got those 14 miles in you.

I went to Brandeis and I loved it, and would go back except right now I’m really mad at it. They are just screwing up big time-they cut the swim team, are cutting the theater dept, cutting faculty, it sucks!
I had a big day trip planned tomorrow, but it looks like my hubby has to work, so now I don’t know! Good luck on your long run!

Ohio State! I loved it while I was there and still love it, but in hindsight I wish I had gone to a smaller school where I would have a little more accountability because I went a little crazy and ended up on the six year plan. OOPS
Good luck with our 14 miler. I am training for my first 1/2 right now and I have finally figured out I am NOT a runner. So this will be my first and last half

-Drink @ Jed’s
-Drink a Legal Joint from Brathaus
-Smoke a cig in MAC beach

I also went to BG and just graduated 2 years ago and I was so upset when I heard about my good ‘ol ghetto Rodgers dorm was being knocked down. The best friends of college and the girls I know will be in my wedding someday were all new-found friends when I was 19 living there. They’re also building more down by offenhauer. I was bummed your friend made a list of the “what the hell’s healthy” bg lifestyle because while I forgot about fireballs from jeds the mister spot’s beer delivery to your apartment, $3 shot night at downtown or 4 am pita pit runs were all just awful (ly fantastic at the time).

Went to dinner and Mitchell’s Ice Cream with the husband (new yogurt – peanut butter chocolate pretzel… YUM!); running 7 mi Sunday. Good luck with your long run.
P.S. Made your Turkey Taco Quinoa Stew last night… HOLY DELICIOUS!!! I added some chipotle in adobo for smokiness and it was awesome! Thanks for sharing. The husband really liked it too, and leftovers may even have tasted better.

That flat out quesadilla wrap sure looks good! I really salute you on eating those pickles! Aren’t they too sour? I know those we have here are really sour. Maybe yours are sweet and crunchy? hmmm…

I went to college at Fredonia in Western NY Like you, I would kill to go back to those years. The most wonderful times of my life–exploring who I was and I was SO much more adventurous. Then I moved 3000 miles away to grad school in Oregon and while that was a blast, it was MUCH more work and a lot less drinking

Another reason I like you – we both love dill pickles!!
I went to Southern Illinois University, but I didn’t graduate – they dropped the field hockey program at the end of my freshman year, and there went my athletic scholarship!

I went to BGSU too! Graduated in 2004, and have been back 3 times. Luckily my BFF was there until 2006, so I had a place to crash. Loved seeing your friend’s list of the best food/drinks in BG. No wonder we all gained so much weight during college.
