Yesterday was ACTION PACKED for me, from start to finish – so I’m just going to get right to it!
My training run yesterday was 13 miles – the longest distance I’ve ever run! To fuel up, I started my day with some Vanilla Chobani, pear, and granola action:
Now about this run…
Last time I ran 13 miles, my foot boycotted, and I had to call it quits on my Columbus Marathon hopes. Needless to say – I was slightly apprehensive. Add on to that – the fact that my doctor said I can’t take anti-inflammatory drugs (I always take Advil/Aleve before runs) until my stomach issues are figured out – and its safe to say I was down right NERVOUS about this run.
Maybe I psyched myself out, or maybe it would have happened either way – but the run was TERRIBLE. I’d say – the WORST run I’ve EVER had.
My hip hurt, my left foot was blistering, and I was EXHAUSTED after 7 miles. BLECH. But – I guess you have to take the good with the bad, right?
When I got home – I was RAVENOUS – and went straight for some cheesy, carb-y deliciousness!
See the Flat Out? I made that while I was waiting because I was positive if I didn’t eat something immediately, I might die. So dramatic.
After showering and getting dressed, it was time for more birthday celebration!! We invited all of our friends over to party with us last night – and our friends Brian and Stephanie came up early to grab a bite to eat with us!
We went to South Side in Tremont! Honestly – I just can’t get enough of Tremont! LOVE IT!
We started off with some hummus:
and wine of course! (Sauv Blanc – duh!)
Last time I ate at South Side I got the same exact meal. Sauv Blanc, Hummus, and a Spicy Caesar salad – and loved it! I didn’t want to mess with a good thing – so I got the same thing this time around!
Just as tasty as I remember it!
After we paid the bill – we moved the party back to our house, since everyone else was showing up around 6!
The fridge was well stocked: (if you look at the bottle closely – you can see my reflection in it!)
and the drinks were flowing freely!
I was so busy having fun enjoying all our friends that came over – I honestly did not take a single picture!!
But don’t worry – I assure you lots of drinks were consumed, LOTS of fun was had, and I had to be dragged to bed by Mike!
I leave you with pretty flowers, that Mike got for me because he is the nicest husband ever!
Hope your weekend was as great as mine! Now I’m off to watch the Oscars!

Your training ran was as long as my race, ha! I hope you get your tummy issues figured out soon! I’m thinking I might be lactose intolerant, could that be the issue with you?

I’m glad you were able to enjoy your birthday despite the stomach issues. I hope it clears up this week.
I have definitely had some bad long runs. I have found my best long runs are those when I don’t plan on running as long. I psych myself out terribly! But sometimes I plan to run a shorter distance, and feel good, so I keep going. Those have been the best runs! My husband is the opposite. He can only run long distances when he mentally prepares. Perhaps I over prepare!

Glad you enjoyed your birthday! I always tell myself that any run is better than no run at all. I sometimes get psyched out by longer runs, too, but you did it!

YUM–I love turkey ruebens!! Question for ya: Do you use a fuel belt or hydration pack on long runs? I am finding that i need water and calories by about 7-8 miles and am unsure which route to take. So I want something on my back or my waist?SO, I’m kinda just taking a poll…
