Morning Reflections

Nothing like starting the morning with SPICY oats with a scoop of PB to mix it up!

I feel like I can almost see my reflection in that spoonful of peanut butter!

Oats + Egg + Frank’s + PB is NEVER a combination I would have thought of, and said “Hey, that sounds delicious” – but I assure you – IT IS!

Lunch was pretty similar to yesterday’s (although I left the shrimp at home to shut my co-workers up  ) – TJ’s Frozen Vegan Fried Rice & a frozen bag of stir-fry veggies:

Topped with hummus and chili crunch:

I swear – the toppings made the dish!  The creamy hummus mixed with the spicy chili made the meal absolutely perfect!

Snack – I had the bright idea to make a “chocolate covered pretzel” type dish, using pretzels (duh!) and a container of the new Oikos chocolate yogurt…

chocolate covered pretzel

Idea = Great in theory, not in real life.  The yogurt was too tangy, and the combo tasted WAY funky!

Since my first idea failed, and I still had pretzels left over, I figured I should just polish them off with hummus!

Then I had an evening full of packing and stressing out    When I finally got hungry – I tried to use up the last of my perishable items in the fridge, which meant:  MORE EGGS

breakfast

I made a quicky egg pile omelet, using spinach, chicken sausage, 3 egg whites, 1 egg yolk, salt, pepper, Frank’s and ketchup.

Look at that beautiful red, HFCS filled blob:

Is there 1 item, that you KNOW you should give up/swap out because it’s bad, but you just can’t?  :???:

For some, it might be switching from regular pop to diet, or, giving up the salt shaker – I really think mine might have to be Heinz ketchup.   Don’t give me Hunts, don’t give me generic, don’t give me organic – I.WANT.HEINZ.  I know it’s got some nasty ingredients, but it tastes like sweet sweet heaven to me!

Lol. There are so many ketchups out there! I’m sure you can find one better than Heinz. Just don’t try Trader Joe’s if you’re looking for something sweet; that stuff is vinegary as hell.
I know that I should cut back on the candy, but I convince myself that since a Jokerz bar is vegan and natural, it must be better than a Snickers. Right?… right?

It’s just like thai food! Spicy peanut sauce! I was totally weirded out by it at first, but once someone explained it like that – I was sold :)

Heinz is definitely one of my items that I can’t swap out. If not Heinz than most BBQ sauces. I can really taste the difference when they’re healified.

ummm…why haven’t I tried this spicy + pb oatmeal combo yet? Yum!

I found the Kroger store brand organic ketchup (does not have HFCS) and it actually tastes just like the regular stuff! Or we think so, anyways. And it’s cheaper than buying brand name organic.

that would be a fun package! what’s your address? :)

Mine would have to be my beloved Crystal Light lemonade. I just love the stuff!

Heinz for life!

Now wait, PB and spicy oats? I don’t know, Allison….

I’m with you on Heinz. I just can’t give it up. I love the taste and can always tell at a restaurant when they fill the Heinz bottles with something else. It’s the one thing I eat with HFCS and I love it.

[Reply]

Have you tried buying the WF brand of ketchup? It is cheap and tastes exactly the same without the HFCS.

[Reply]

ALLISON, you have to buy heinz reduced sugar ketchup! i am a heinz girl ALL THE WAY and i can’t tell the difference.. plus, no crazy ingredients!

[Reply]

i was joking about your food smelling bad. now all your readers are going to think the coworkers are jerks. you are the jerk!

I, too, am a total HEINZ ketchup ADDICT. Can’t do anything else. Nope. Can’t, won’t, ain’t gonna happen :)

SO AGREE about ketchup. Once my stepmom bought sodium free ketchup… what’s the point!? I always buy hunks of cheese and ice cream, though I know I’ll eat through them way too fast. Also just wanted to say I’m sorry I didn’t really get to do the Cut the Crap challenge! I wanted to, but then found out literally the next day that I would be having surgery and well, I could barely eat anything so I guess I kind of Cut the Crap? You’re doing great though :D !!!

I hate to admit this, but I like Cool Whip. It is only one step away from condom lube. But hey, at least it can pull double duty!

[Reply]

Yeah Heinz!! If you go ANYWHERE in Pittsburgh and there isn’t Heinz ketchup, there is an uproar !

[Reply]

I put waaaaayyyy too much sweetness in my oatmeal sometimes… just can’t help it! I know I could chill out… and I should… tomorrow? ;)

[Reply]

Is it regular peanut butter?

Probably diet coke. I can’t seem to give it up completely.

Lee – it’s Naturally More. I’ve become completely obsessed with it, and won’t use any other PB!

Hmm I should really give up cookies, but that’s just laughable!

hmm mine is probably cheese. I am addicted!

From one fellow ketchup lover to another, try the Organic Heinz. Same exact stuff just no HFCS and ingredients you can pronounce! I will never go back!

[Reply]

yeah, yeah, yeah, healthy food. when can you drink again?

[Reply]

allijag Reply:

I can drink RIGHT NOW! :)

[Reply]

I can’t give up Heinz either. So good.
