Bummer – right?

Yesterday morning I woke up bright and early – to this beautiful scene:

4.25 001

Only to then have to go and pack my bags and catch my flight, and leave my wonderful friends, and the fantastic South.  Bummer – right?

To make a sad situation, frustrating – my flight out of Wilmington was delayed, because of thunderstorms in Atlanta. Have you heard me mention that ATLANTA IS THE WORST, MOST EVIL AIRPORT on the face of this earth?

PicForWebsiteApril2007AtlantaAirport

Once we did take off – my 45 minute flight from Wilmington to Atlanta took 2 hours, 10 minutes.

I was at least lucky enough to make my connecting flight! As we taxied down the runway, and the pilot said we were first in line to take off – I thought all of the trouble Atlanta gives me was over – but PSYCH.  As we were just about to take off, it started to downpour, and we sat on the runway for 30 minutes.

YUCK.  Bummer – right?

I eventually made it home, only about 20 minutes later than originally planned, but I really can’t stress enough – Atlanta airport really does stink. Nothing goes right there. Okay – I’m done being negative!

Once I got home (seeing as I haven’t been shopping in 3 weeks) – I needed to really scrap together meal ideas, and let me tell you – I was striking out left and right.

See this?

Sounds delicious right? :???: WRONG.

This was so incredibly foul, I actually wasn’t sure I had just put a food product safe for humans in my mouth. The taste was honestly HORRIFYING!    How could you do that to me Archer Farms? I usually love you, but this was a disaster, I immediately threw the whole bottle out.  Buffalo Blue Cheese Dip tasting like hot garbage?  Bummer – right?

Next up – Trader Joe’s Reduced Guilt Filet of Sole

4.25 005

Can someone answer this for me?  WHY, OH WHY, did I ever think microwaved fish would taste good??

4.25 010

This was hot garbage dish #2 of the evening.  2 bites, then straight into the garbage.    Bummer – right?

So – third time’s the charm, OR at least that’s how the saying goes…

You can’t go wrong with Boca and Arnold Thins, right?!?!?!

4.25 014

Almost got it right!   See those Dave’s Spicy Sweet pickles I posted about during the CTC challenge that have HFCS.  Those were a fail. I ate a few before I was totally grossed out and threw the rest away!

4.25 015

I really am not the sort of person to waste food either – so that should just tell you the quality of each of the items I threw away!

One creature that did have some luck with food yesterday – Lando!

4.25 016

I’d just let Harvey out so she could use the restroom  and I decided to refill their food container.  I turned my back for one second, LITERALLY ONE SECOND to throw the bag away, and…

4.25 0184.25 020

She is such a little fatty food hog, what am I going to do with her?!

(and yes, rather than stop her or reprimand her IMMEDIATELY, I instead dove for my camera – go ahead, judge me)

And just one last picture to show you how truly exciting my Saturday night was (you know, with cooking 3 different dinners and all…)

I gave the dogs the fight of their life both dogs a bath – and while they both came out looking & smelling nice and clean – I came out looking a little worse for the wear…

4.25 026

I’m not even sure this picture does it justice – I’m literally soaked head to toe on my left side! GAH!

All joking aside – it’s really nice to be home!  I had 2 really fantastic weekends in a row, but man do I love just being able to be at my house, doing whatever I want!

What’s your favorite thing about coming home after a trip/vacation?

Mine – hands down – Sleeping in my own bed! (*assuming Mike and the dogs went with me on the trip!  If it’s like the past two weeks – my answer is coming home to Mike and the pups!)

I Heart the South

Friday morning I cancelled my run  because I was feeling just slightly under the weather due to our prior evening’s celebration!

I did muster up the strength to go downstairs and at least get some carbs and peanut butter to soak up all the left over alcohol in my belly!

After running a few pre-wedding errands with the bride and groom – we thought it best that we refuel with some Chik-fil-A    Since I’m still feeling a little weird with chicken – I stuck with their amazing waffle fries.

sarah 2 004

Fries and pizza – two things I could eat every single day, for the rest of my life!

Once we got situated at the resort where the wedding was taking place – I had time to relax (tweet lots of things about food network) and grab a shower.  I knew it was almost time to head down, when I saw the final touches being put on the “ceremony site”

sarah 2 006

Everybody was right on time – and things got started right at 5. The ring bearer was TOTALLY prepped for his job, right down to the shades!

sarah 2 013

How cute is he?!

AND THEN…

…came the beautiful bride and her father!

sarah 2 021

My little Sarah, all grown up!

The ceremony itself was simple, very cute, and super quick!

The reception followed immediately after, and I was very quick to hit up the appetizer table, seeing as my diet all day long had been carbs, and more carbs.

sarah 2 104

Their cake was GORGEOUS, and totally fit their theme to a “T.”

sarah 2 091sarah 2 096

The newlyweds came in to the best song in the whole wide world! (yes, it’s the best because it’s what Mike and I walked in to!)

As things got going, I made sure to write my special note to Sarah and Erik.  I LOVE it when the bride and groom have these picture frames!

sarah 2 165sarah 2 166

Dinner was fantastic, but looking at this picture, I couldn’t help but think “Holy hell I ate a lot last night!”

sarah 2 138

There weren’t any fish options, so I just loaded up on veggies & salad – oh yeah – and CHEESE!

Ya’ll know I’m not crazy about sweets, so when the cake came around – I passed, but Meri happily accepted!

sarah 2 162

From there – the only thing left to do was BOOGEY the night away!

sarah 2 191

There was almost a crisis half way through the night, when Sarah’s adorable nephew came and gave her a hug with chocolate covered hands…

sarah 2 170

But some quick action with ice and a napkin fixed everything!

Me with my Southern family – Meridith & Sarah

sarah 2 172

Toward the end of the night – Sarah had a special song up her sleeve just for me – HANG ON SLOOPY!

O.H.I.O!

sarah 2 202

Only problem – Erik and his family are Michigan fans!

You’ll notice them directly behind me, giving me the cold shoulder (not a real cold shoulder, they were VERY NICE, they were just hammin’ it up for the picture!)

sarah 2 201

God, do I love my Buckeyes!

Congratulations again Sarah and Erik!  I am so happy for both of you, and so very honored that I got to be part of your special day!

Do you have a theme song?  Like – if you were a sports star (or super hero?) – what song would you always come out to?

I’ve actually got a good handful, it just depends on the situation

Congrats Sarah & Erik

Sarah & Erik are MARRIED!!!!   HOOOORAY!

Meri and I on the other hand…

 I love my best friend!
