Sunday morning I woke up with the best of intentions.
I’d gone to bed by 10 the night before, and was planning on going out on a 3-5 mile run (the 1st since the marathon)…
…instead I woke up with a sore throat, itchy eyes, stuffy head, and super nauseous. I told myself it was just allergies, and took a Claritin D.
Run = cancelled.
Needless to say, I wasn’t really feeling hungry, so breakfast never happened.
I finally started feeling a little bit better around noon, so when Mike suggested a fun lunch date – I agreed because I DEFINITELY didn’t feel like cooking!
We ended up at Fat Head’s Brewery & Saloon – for the 1st time!
It was such a gorgeous day, so sitting outside in the shade was perfect! So perfect in fact, that when I saw they offered Bumbleberry Honey Blueberry Ale, I just couldn’t help myself!
Mike’s selection: Kona Koffee Stout & Bacon Cheddar Cheese Fries as an appetizer!
This picture doesn’t do the fries justice. The plate was HUGE and HEAPING!
Oh yeah – and DELICIOUS LOOKING!
I definitely helped out with these (HEY! I gotta get my cheese and bacon in before Vegan Month begins!)
For my meal: Grilled Buffalo Chicken Salad
Super fresh and light!
(but definitely no competition for my Rockne’s version)
After we were DONE EATING – this is how much food was left!

Everything was super delicious, but seriously – the serving sizes were INSANE!
It shouldn’t bother me, but when we get HUMUNGO-Americanized portions at restaurants, it always upsets me, because our country struggles so much with obesity.
Eek!
Mike and I had a late afternoon date to watch: IRON MAN 2!

Honestly – not as awesome as Iron Man 1, but still entertaining enough I’m not sad we spent $20 to see it. (OMG movie tickets are so expansive! Also – OMG the Avengers Initiative snippet at the end of the credits!)
Seeing as it’s a holiday weekend and I didn’t feel like cooking or going grocery shopping – Mike and I went out to dinner (yep – 2 restaurants, 1 day!)
Dinner’s Selection: The Third Place: A Tavern – a pub right at the top of our street!
It’s nice and clean inside, never very crowded, and they have really great prices and specials!
Their logo always reminds me of Third Eye Blind (random fact: I loved Third Eye Blind SO MUCH in high school and college – my old screen name used to be Alli3eb. I.WAS.COOL!)
I ended up selecting the Veggie Grinder which ended worked out to be the perfect choice!
There was a ton of butter and parmesan on the top of the bread though – so I was only able to eat half! All said though, I’ll definitely order that sandwich again!
The VERY BEST PART?! There were no mushrooms, so I didn’t even have to make a special order!
Does anyone else feel like the need to go through detox after holiday weekends?
I always feel like I’ve had 3 straight days of drinking, eating bad food, and not sleeping enough, this weekend was no exception! ACK!
Oh well HELLO THERE!
I know I’ve been MIA since Friday afternoon
– but I’ve really just been enjoying this long weekend full of gorgeous weather – to the MAX!
Friday involved porch drinking:
Dogs were allowed – I was in HEAVEN!
These characters, were my partners in crime until the wee hours of the night:
Eventually we needed dinner – so we ended up at Edison’s in Tremont – Popcorn appetizer (cuz that definitely the best choice)

Everyone else wanted pepperoni so they just split a pizza, and I got my own plain cheese PIZZA SLICE, as the package was so appropriately labeled!

Saturday we went up to Catawba to hang out with the whole family (aunts, uncles, cousins, parents, grandparents – dogs too!)
![]()
They seriously love that the windows are “their height” and that so many people who are up there want to love on them.
As you may have noticed previously on here: my dogs have a very hard life.
The weather was so amazing, I was honestly too busy enjoying it to snap pictures outside – but I did manage to take some once I came back in to get my grub
Momma’s homemade pasta salad on top of spinach/lettuce with some cherries:
That was just the appetizer though
GDW Dad (who wanted to remain “elusive” hence the back picture) stayed out an extra 20 minutes at the grill just to cook my “special request”
Grilled tofu = fantasticness
(my aunt tried it and her immediate reaction was “delicious” only to shortly follow with “OMG IT TASTES TERRIBLE” – I’ll make a tofu convert out of someone else in my family YET!)

I was so excited to finally get my hands on it – I couldn’t help but dig in before I thought “oh yeah – picture”.
Apparently that’s been happening a lot lately!
Eventually we made it home, and today we’ve been super busy (read: I’ve annoyed Mike NON-STOP until he’s agreed to do things with me!) But more on that tomorrow!
Anyone ever taken a trip to Arizona, Colorado or Alaska?
Mike and I are looking at those for possible vacation spots (5 days at the most) – I’d love some feedback!
Yesterday morning I realized that Mike had eaten the last of the blackberries AND the last of the apples, and almost had a small breakdown when I realized I had NO FRUIT for my Chobani!
But alas – I was wrong!
There was a perfectly good mango hiding out on my counter AND a can of pineapple in the cupboard!
And so – tropical yogurt was born!
I felt like I was on a tropical island!
Or something.
Yesterday was one of our co-worker’s last day with the company – so we went out for a farewell lunch. The place? South Side. Again. For the 3rd time in a week. Seriously.
I’m aware that picture is backwards.
In the spirit of always trying new things – I was planning on ordering the Blackened Grouper Sandwich – but when Angelina said she was torn between that sandwich and the Hearts of Palm salad – we knew we had to go “splits-ies” (go ahead and roll your eyes
)
Blackened Grouper Sandwich
+ Heart of Palm Salad
= delicious meal
South Side can do no wrong in my eyes!
Although – I must say, 3 times in one week – a little much.
Last night – I had one of those very random, very thrown together, very LAZY sort of meals. So lazy in fact, I just started eating and forgot to take a picture.
So you have this:
Which I don’t know why – but I can’t look at that picture without cracking up.
Followed up by some eggs just randomly throw together.
Weird and more weird – right?
It was all tasty though!
Any fun plans for the long weekend?!
Mike and I have NO plans and I couldn’t be more excited!
HAPPY FRIDAY!
