YUMM!

Let’s face it.  My dinner was way too cool, that I shouldn’t even waste my time describing breakfast and lunch.

So here are those lame meals:   5.4 0085.4 0545.4 058

HERE’S WHERE THIS POST GETS GOOD! (Don’t worry – I want to poke my eyes at looking at YET another black bean burger – so I definitely wouldn’t blame you for feeling the same!)

Yesterday morning – I got an email from Dave (who is an awesome Cleveland blogger, AND is totally famous :wink:he made it on the NEWS!), saying that I’d won tickets to YUMM!

YUMM, is a fabulous foodie event, hosted by Stove Monkeys at The Mercury Lounge on W. 6th St. boasting “all the molecular gastronomical treats you can eat!”

Uhh yeah…COUNT ME IN!

As if I wasn’t already excited enough about the event – THIS FACE GREETED US OUTSIDE!

OMG I love Boxers! If our house were bigger, (EARMUFFS LANDO AND HARVEY!) we’d have 2 Boxers instead of 2 Puggles!!

The Dim and Den Sum truck was there, but I didn’t get a chance to try any  of their stuff out! :(   BUMMER!

5.4 0155.4 016

Right from the start I was totally intrigued by all the different stations they had set up!

5.4 010

Liquid Nitrogen – WHA?!?!?

5.4 011

For Liquid Nitrogen Poached Ice Cream – OF COURSE!

5.4 0285.4 027

Wanna know what it tasted like?  Think Dippin’ Dots! (that’s EXACTLY how Stove Monkeys described it!)

Cotton Candy?  Sure – don’t mind if I do!

5.4 0185.4 020

But that’s not just any cotton candy!  That’s cotton candy used to make Chicken Satay with Curry Cotton Candy! For realz!

5.4 0215.4 035

Now I don’t know about you – but I always take my Chicken Satay with Curry Cotton Candy with a glass of white.  Green Dog Mom prefers red!

Honestly?  I was skeptical, but I have to say – the chicken/curry/candy combo was VERY STRANGELY AMAZING! NEVER something I would ever think of putting together, but I’d ABSOLUTELY eat it again in a heartbeat!

Next up…Tempura Egg Yolks with Bacon Aioli

5.4 030

Um. WOW.  I’d kind of like this to be my breakfast marathon morning.  Matt, will you cook me up a batch of these to fuel me through 26.2?

The bacon aioli had a wonderfully onion-y hint to it (I’m guess those were chives on top) – and this little cup totally blew my mind. Seriously.  And this is coming from the girl, who, ALWAYS, when eating a hard boiled egg, starts by throwing out the yolk!

Last, but not least – Exploding Berries!

5.4 038

The put these strawberries through a special treatment before serving them (gah! I can’t remember the full process!) – and then serve them topped with Pop Rocks!

5.4 039

Holy awesome!  I wish Mike would have been able to come with me, because he would have tried to eat this whole plate!

You should always play with your food, and Stove Monkeys does a great job with that idea!  SO. FUN!

(Side note: Stove Monkeys is the same group that threw Flavor Tripping back in February, another event I was lucky enough to attend!)

Thanks again to Dave, & Stove Monkeys for a wonderful evening (and it was great to meet you Matt!)  Last night was awesome, and it was so much fun trying all the amazing treats!

What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever eaten?

I’m going to have to go with cotton candy wrapped chicken, sprinkled with curry!

Fun! I honestly can’t think of much “strange” I’ve eaten. Hmm… I’m going to be thinking about this all night now

It’s kind of funny to me that I’d get “Ohio Envy” but that’s totally the result of your posts!

I had a dinner cooked by my students and some four year olds tonight. Although it was pizza and we provided the toppings for them, it was strange because I watched them make it and I still ate it.

So fun! Matt Mytro is a great chef- very inventive. I heard a rumor on Twitter that he has been named the new executive chef at Touch Supper Club in Ohio City. I wonder if there is any truth to that. I hope so!

Ohmygod the mush face, I can’t stand it! :D

What a fun evening! You know I’m all about playing with your food so this would be right up my alley. So cool!

What a fun event . . . but I am loving the jalapenos on your breakfast sammie! :D

I am getting to be an adventurous eater – I recently tried ahi tuna and turns out I like it – I just had to get over the “raw” look!

I loooove dippin’ dots, so I know that ice cream would have been a big hit with me! When are all these foodie events going to come to St. Louis, jeez?!

[Reply]

I had blood pudding at Cochon555 a few weeks ago. It was not tasty :)
