Aww – yesterday was Mike’s Birthday – last year I gave him his very own special post (click here – sorry about the jacked up pictures, it was before Windows Live Writer came in to my world)
This year – I didn’t even mention him on the blog!
Bad wife!
I did, however, buy him a Wii, Phantom of the Opera tickets AND his favorite breakfast: Green Tea Latte from Starbucks and chocolate donuts from DD!
I at least get credit for a little, even though he didn’t make it on the blog – right?
Oh yeah – I also made sure to wake him up with lots of puppy kisses!
MY breakfast on the other hand, was not as exciting!
DD Coffee with vegan spicy oats & PB:
I really don’t like this PB – I need to get out to TJ’s – Mama Pea said they have a vegan PB WITH flaxseed, just like my beloved Naturally More!
Snack: Fritos
(GAH! I REALLY NEED TO GO GROCERY SHOPPING! This challenge is supposed to make me healthier, not to teach me to rely on crappy treats that just accidentally happen to not contain animals!)
Lunch: Leftover Black Bean Tacos!
Just as good, if not BETTER than, the night before
Mike’s Birthday Dinner request: Longhorn!
(I know! Great! A Steakhouse! For Vegan Month! ACK!)
I used this website to figure out the best vegan choices there, and found out that their Balsamic Vinaigrette was safe – so I started with a side salad – no cheese, no croutons:
Followed by a side of seasonal vegetables & a baked potato – both NEKKID!
Which is apparently my new vegan “go-to” because otherwise – I’ve been to 2 different restaurants that don’t have a lot of other options!
We were home and in bed by 9:30!
I’m not sure what’s happened to us, but we went from being young to being OLD OLD OLD very quickly! Yikes!
Do you have a special requests/meals/traditions for your birthday?
I don’t really have anything specific, other than I MUST get to choose all the meals
Go figure – right?

That card made me laugh out loud! Love it.
And I think his presents MORE than made up for you not mentioning him on the blog!

Happy Birthday Mike! In recent years I’ve made an effort to have a black and white milkshake on my birthday.

I was vegan for like 9 months (been veg for 2 years though) and I lived on vegan cookies, cake, chips and salsa, and pb. Soo I know how that junk food vegan thing can be! And as for birthdays .. mine is on Thanksgiving every few years so I always make a big fuss to make sure no one forgets me in the shuffle of a holiday!

Not anymore – when you hit my age, birthdays just aren’t what they used to be.

Sounds like you made it a great birthday!
I have to have my Mom’s homemade spaghetti and sauce with meatballs or Italian sausage for my birthday dinner (when my Mom and I are in the same city for my birthday that is).

so cute! My boyfriend’s birthday was on Wednesday, and I made him a vegan cheesecake (he’s vegan!) — every year he requests a cake with a different phrase iced onto it that’s supposed to set the tone for the year. The first year, it said “FOCUS,” the next year, “PUT SOME GRATITUDE IN YOUR ATTITUDE,” and this year “GET OFF MY BACK!”
