My Fur Babies

…say “Hi Bloggies!!!!”

It’s been a while since an “all-dog” post, and since the pups had an action filled week – they wanted to share it with you!

Like – getting a gift from New York from Deirdre!!!

Bubba Rose – P.B. with Crust Treats!

7.22 017

To say the dogs went CRAZY over these, would be an understatement.  They usually know that they need to sit when I go to give them a treat – but instead, with these – they were running around in circles, jumping at me!

This week they also took up yoga, and have been working very hard on perfecting their downward-facing-dog!

7.21 022

They are partial to Aurorae mats!

And the most exciting/terrifying part of the week?

7.24 044

Our visit to the vet yesterday!

7.24 048

It’s totally natural to take tons of pictures of your dogs in the vet’s waiting room.  Right?

What should have been just a normal annual check up at the vet turned into a scary afternoon for us though :(

After we got home, Harvey seemed fine, but Lando seemed funny.  After a few minutes went by and I hadn’t seen her – I went to go look and make sure she was okay – and I found her laying in the tub!

7.24 059

Which she’s normally terrified of.

7.24 058

I put a cool towel on her, because she just seemed hot/feverish, which the vet said is normal.  I got her to lay down with me, and she slept for about an hour.  I figured she was all better.

I was wrong.

An hour later, she got up and went right back to the tub.  When I walked in to get her, she was COVERED in hives (which looked SO BIZARRE, her hair was raised in all these different spots, I wish I would have taken a picture so you could have seen how weird it was, but I FREAKED OUT, and taking a picture was the last thing on my mind.)

I called the vet and they said to bring her back in, she was having an allergic reaction. I literally ran out the front door with her in my arms and SPED the entire way to the vet.  I was so afraid she was going to stop breathing or something. :(

An hour and 2 more shots later – she was fine. But OH.MY.GOD. was that scary.

We spent the rest of the day at home, because I was too afraid to leave her.  And luckily, Miss Harvey is my rough’n’tumble dog – nothing yesterday even phased her in the least.

Seriously though – I do NOT understand how parents do it.  If I feel like way about my pets, I can’t imagine how much I would stress out over kids.

Now that me and the pups have rambled on – tell me about YOUR weekend!!

Awwww, I am so glad that all is well. I would have been in hysterics. Ophelia is my fur-baby and I can’t imagine loving a human baby more than I love her.

Thanks Suzanne! We really need to get together and have a puppy play date!

I love your pups.

That is saying a lot for me.

I just told my friend the other day that I’d rather have a new baby than a new puppy.

Frank sucks. Chris rules.

Peace out.

Thanks Mama!

LOL – Chris does rule, but so does Roberto! :) (and Frank SERIOUSLY sucks – amen!)

AHHH!!! How terrifying! I’m glad Lando Bean is a-okay! I get such anxiety taking my dogs to the vet that I don’t think I would have been able to handle that scare!

Poor baby! Franklin has been really sick once and it literally made me sick as well. I’m with you on parents of “skin babies” (I know – gross term), I get this worked up over my dog. Glad to hear she’s feeling better – poor little lady!

Seriously! I mean – it scares me to think of what I would feel if I had a kid! I’d totally be one of those over-bearing mom’s that won’t let anyone else hold the baby or ever let the baby out of my sight (control freak!) :)

Did she have a reaction to a vaccine? Goodness I totally understand being freaked with worry!

That’s what they think (although, with all of her puppy shots, and all of her 1 year shots, she NEVER had a problem). The vet said that isn’t entirely strange though – sometimes the pups develop resistance or something, and then all of a sudden in affects them! Either way – SCARY SCARY SCARY!

Replied below, but just saw this. My dog had his first reaction to a vaccine at age 8!!!!! He had never had a problem before. It was explained to me as the vaccines being incubated differently or having a slightly different component that he could’ve been allergic to that particular time. Great!

Wow – that is scary! Poor thing! Yep – take your anxiety and times it by 10 when its your child.

Although, one time Hannah cut her chin and I was like “let’s just put a band-aid on it!” A few hours later, my Mom came home, took one look and was like “Hannah needs stitches!” Oh, to be a young mom!

She ended up getting 6 stitches – but was cool as a cucumber – she only cried a little but it still broke my heart. :(

Yikes- so scary! I totally know how you feel with Lizzie’s recent oil disaster. I was a mess, and I truly do not understand how parents do it! Glad she’s doing alright.

Glad your pooch is ok!

I actually went to the pound and looked at dogs myself this weekend. I’ve been thinking of getting one for a while now, and I’d really like to rescue one. We’ll see what happens with the little guy that I liked!

[Reply]

Oh man. I’ve totally been there… my little guy’s face was super swollen after his last round of vaccines. Totally creepy looking and definitely scary! I’m glad your babies are all good now!

So happy Lando is okay. It can be so scary when our little ones get sick! My beagle had a reaction to his vaccination shots at age 7 – he developed a knot and lost a perfect circle of hair about the size of a golf ball. A couple of months later, the hair grew back and now you can’t tell it happened. My vet now gives him a shot of Benadryl with his vaccinations to keep him from having a reaction. He gets a little sleepy but I don’t have to worry about reactions anymore!

[Reply]

I’m so happy Lando is OK! I am a a crazy dog lady myself and would have been flippin’ out!

I adore your puggles.

So glad to hear your pup is okay. We just went through this with our dog but she got sick out of both ends and got severely dehydrated. The vet absolutely said there was no relation to this incident and the fact that she had just gotten all her shots. It seemed pretty suspicious to me (I swear I’m not some crazy conspiracy theorist). I posted on my fb page about the incident and others had similar, scary situations. At least a baby would be crying or something, a dog just looks at you like “help me.” So scary, glad everything turned out.

[Reply]

Aw, how scary! Glad everything turned out okay!

[Reply]

So scary! I would’ve freaked, too. Glad she’s ok.
